This topic must have been beaten to death over the decades. The righteous posturing, boisterous claims of good governance, “corruption-free” administration, what-have-you–all suddenly assuming paramount importance, and you are stumped for a second, pause, disbelieving your eyes and ears: since when did our political masters wake up to these realities? All the while we heard of scams, more scams, illogical policies, and now this! And then it slowly sinks in: elections are just round the corner.
Mr.Clean aka S.M.Krishna, about two weeks ago, issued a firmaan to the Bangalore City Corporation to do up the roads, lighting, maintain gardens, and generally improve the look and feel of Bangalore. This he claims was the result of the “shocking” scenes he witnessed when he took a “surprise” walk on Cunningham (and other) road. He brought down the heavens with his fury and commanded his underlings to “take action” or “heads will roll.”
Surprise! The very next day, Bangaloreans witnessed hordes of workers painting the road dividers, lane markers, the lighting people fixing street lights…the works. The bliss! How hard the government is working for the welfare of the tax paying citizens! God bless Mr. Clean.
Oh! But I won’t vote for his party this time around (not that I did during the previous polls).
