I’m currently reading an interesting book (will post a review at a later date) which gives an interesting tidbit about the Indian system of Logic. The system that comes closest to the Western model of analytical philosophy is called Nyaya.
The tidbit I present here has to do with Inference as was exposited by ancient [...]

This is maddeningly hilarious; I mean, the reactions to the recent devastation caused by the Tsunami. While some people try to find a connection between the Tsunami and the Kanchi Seer’s arrest, others are glad that they are atheists (because a God who’s essentially good, does good, etc wouldn’t inflict such a horror). Now comes [...]

R.K. Raghavan has a neat review of a newly-released book entitled, THE CRIMSON AGENDA ? Maoist Protest and Terror.
He writes at length of the stranglehold that the Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (CPN-M) has gained over most parts of that strategically located Himalayan kingdom.
We in India cannot be complacent over this unfortunate turn of events in [...]

While the North East and J&K continue to bleed, the top guns in Delhi are busy one-upping each other. Maybe Nitin will write with greater clarity on this.

When in doubt, conduct a sting operation. The truth will come out. What however, is construed as truth depends on which side of the fence you are on. If it happens to be–heaven forbid–the Modi side, you are done for; if however, it happens to be the Setalvad side, you have some luck. For she [...]

The one who came closest to answering my picture-quiz was Ravikiran. Here’s the answer: it denotes a patch for a military rank known as the Obersturmbannführer (or Senior Storm Unit Leader) in the notorious SS of Nazi Germany. Among the more distinguished people to hold this rank, Adolf Eichmann figures prominently.
Wikipedia has more details.

Is the gist of an incoherent article published in the “bold” and “fearless” Tehelka. The incoherence is sure to give the Resident Idiot a run for his money. While the Resident Idiot calls these souls Cyber Coolies, this enterprising author calls them a New Dalit Elite, whatever that means. It does however, mean something; according [...]
