Change of Heart?

Prem Shankar Jha, pseudosecularist, Congress loyalist and well known Hindu baiter seems to have had a sudden change of heart for reasons I cannot fathom. He writes about the First Cardinal Sin of the Congress! And lucidly at that.

Really, Jha shouldn’t have used Sin in the singular as is evident from his ennumeration:

1. Inducting tainted ministers into the Cabinet: Laloo, Taslimuddin, and Ali Ashraf Fatimi.

2. The debate over Sonia’s access to confidential national secrets

3. The (promised) Reservation of private sector jobs to SC/ST/OBCs

He then proceeds to paint the Bihar Horror Story

Within Bihar, kidnapping is endemic and even national retailers have closed their shops and moved elsewhere. Predatory gangs rule the roost.A favourite pastime is to rob trains and to wait for disembarking migrant workers to rob them of whatever they have brought home for their families. As a result, migrant workers now travel back to Bihar whenever possible in large gangs, for that is the only way to keep the predators off.

Jha also makes a very perceptive observation about Laloo:

The truth is that Laloo Yadav could not care a fig what the media and the intelligentsia have to say. His aim is to let the whole of India know that a new age has dawned. India is no longer ruled by Law but by muscle power. The way to become a minister, or even the prime minister of India, is not to be a model citizen but through murder, dacoity, fraud and embezzlement. All one has to do is to assemble a gang of hoodlums and wait for the ever-hungry politician to come begging for support.

Go read the entire article. It’s a refreshing departure from Jha’s usual anti-BJP/anti-Hindu and pro-Sonia rants.
