Sibu Soren a Cheap Criminal Art Thou

The UPA government knows no shame is all I can say at this disgusting turn of events. Sibu Soren, Union Minister of Coal and Mines has been issued an arrest warrant and has ever since, absconded.

Like a cheap criminal.

Instead of adopting the infamous Congress line of “I’ll surely go to prison if only to prove that I’m innocent,” Soren seems to have developed cold feet. What’s amusing is the statement from the Ministry:

The Union ministry tonight ruled out a probe for tracing Soren as it has received no complaint ?either from his family or his party that he was absconding?.

His vanishing act–whether he realizes it or no–has only done him more harm than good. It has given the Opposition a chance to scream that he absconded because he knew he was guilty: see, we told you, now sack him. And so, the Parliament is as usual, in pandemonium instead of conducting the business of the people.

Of course, in his defence, Soren has filed a petition challenging his arrest on the following grounds:

Soren had made two prayers in his petition ? quash the arrest warrant and direct the state government to withdraw the riot case as it was linked to the Jharkhand movement.

I have nothing to say to the first prayer, but the second is utterly ridiculous. Why should the state government withdraw any case because it was “linked to some movement?” So, tomorrow, I’ll incite a mob to run amok, loot and murder people and then plead with the law not to persecute me because I have evidence to show that it was linked to a noble cause?

But we shouldn’t be surprised, for the UPA government is studded with numerous such gems as Soren: Jagadish Tytler comes to my mind first.
