Prime Minister or Puppet Minister

Our Prime Minister’s greatest assets seem to be his Mr. Clean image, his scholarship, and his gentlemanliness/soft-spokenness. I seriously doubt whether he possesses even an iota of shrewdness that characterizes a politician. I may be wrong of course, but this is what I reckon from the image the media–and even his own party members–projects of him.

It is no small wonder that the Congressmen scarcely pay heed to him at least for the position he occupies. They know the real Power Centre is at 10 Janpath. Again, it is no surprise that the arrogant HRD Minister, Arjun Singh pompously appoints himself as Mr. Know-it-all, handing out advice to Manmohan on how to run a government.

HRD Minister Arjun Singh’s open advice to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on how to run the Government has raised serious political concerns… The HRD Minister on Sunday took upon himself to openly advise the Prime Minister at a seminar on “secularism” to “purge the system of fascist RSS elements”.

It is an open secret that Manmohan Singh was made the PM after Sonia, in a supreme act of saintly sacrifice, a la Buddha, gave up her aspirations for the throne. This follows that Manmohan should suffer the yoke of indebtedness to Sonia aka Maino and act at her behest.

This said, it is also an open secret that Arjun Singh is where he is at present largely following the Congress tradition of licking serving the Dynasty loyally, and thereby commands immense “respect” from the Dynasty. His words carry weight in the circles that matter.

He can therefore, after all, afford to advise our ill-informed Prime Minister on how to run the country.
