This news vindicates the byline of my weblog. For one, I was–and still am–never a great admirer of people who win the Nobel prize. Increasingly, the award ceremony seems to me an elaborate show of buffoonery. I say “buffoonery” with a reason: people all over the world know the rigging, lobbying, and an assortment of muck that is enacted behind the scenes to nominate a person for the Nobel. Despite all this, it is still touted like it’s something special.

A partial list of Nobel recipients in recent times is very telling:

Yaseer Arafat, the world’s oldest terrorist gets a Nobel for “peace.” Either the folks at the Nobel Committee/Board are truly demented or our understanding of the meaning of the word “peace” has undergone a change in the reverse direction.

(Late) Mother Theresa, the world’s most deceptive fundamentalist who amassed a fortune by advertising other people’s poverty. It is her singular achievement that she projected the people of Calcutta as no more than starving beggars.

Now, this lady. The Nobel committee is indeed, truly demented because it awarded a once-prestigious prize to a woman who says,

I may not be able to say who developed the (HIV) virus but it was meant to wipe out the Black race…?Some say that AIDS came from the monkeys, and I doubt that because we have been living with monkeys [since] time immemorial,? the new Nobel prizewinner said. ?Others say it was a curse from God, but I say it cannot be that.?

This prize is the consequence of trying to ease troubled consciences by adopting ridiculous methods. Oh! we’ve hurt the Blacks over many centuries, treated them badly, etc, so let’s make up for it. Give them the Nobel so they’ll feel happy and at the same time, it’ll make us feel better. So there!

Perhaps this is too simplistic an explanation. There’s more to where that comes from. The Grand Old Left ever since the loss of the Only Fatherland has been trying to recuperate and reorganize itself in several ways. Because “Communism” is an obscenity in today’s parlance, these slimes have coined lofty-sounding phrases: another world, environmentalism (and by this, I don’t mean to condemn genuine environmentalists), world peace, global socialism, equitable distribution of wealth, care for the third world… Among other aspects that characterize this insidiousness, the most notable (and common) refrain happens to be: America is Evil; and more recently, they are all united on America’s “illegal invasion of Iraq.”

However, the free world takes all this in its stride–and I’m wildly guessing–if only to:

a) Humour them
b) Be politically correct
c) Remain overconfident that it is just harmless talk

After all, political correctness has its rewards.
