Mourning a Terrorist’s Death

Friday, 12. November 2004 - 2:40 PM

With the Congress-led UPA government running the show, it is only to be expected that they will steadfastly support all kinds of terrorists, dead or alive. Especially so, when a Nobel-recipient terrorist is dead. With the world’s oldest terrorist, Yaseer Arafat now confirmed “officially dead,” several stalwarts from India have eagerly jumped the mourning bandwagon. They should: in the interests of secularism, and to assure the Islamofascists Muslim brethren that they are not being treated as merely a vote bank.

The choice of those headed to Palestine is telling: Nutwar Singh, Lalu Yadav, and Comrade Sitaram Yechury. Nutwar Singh has to go because he has “earned” it and “owes” it to the Gandhi family. Lalu Yadav of course would have anyway gone because Muslims apart from the Yadavs, constitute his vote bank, and Comrade Yechury! do you really need to ask the reason?

After tormenting Israel in particular and the entire strip for several decades now, and receiving a Nobel for the lofty acts of terror, Yaseer has ensured that after death the burning torch of his legacy will remain that way: burning.

However, within hours of the death of Arafat ? a Nobel Peace Prize winner ? militants from his Fatah movement attacked a Jewish settlement in Gaza in what they said signalled the start of a new round of clashes with Israel.

Just when we thought that the previous regime had started to move in the right direction by allying with Israel, the secular bunch seems to be hellbent on wrecking it.

    Sandeep,

Universal condemnation of Arafat as a terrorist has its rationale. But at one time Arafat did side with India (as much as it was vice versa)…in the Cold War value system — where everyone backed their own terrorist, dictator and guerilla leader — India had its Arafat. An Indian assessment of Arafat is incomplete without counting his counting the runs that came off his bat.

Of course, as you point out, our politicos may be rushing to his funeral for entirely different reasons altogether.

Nutwar’s attendance is understandable, the links were perhaps even personal. IMHO, sending Lalu and Yechury is a conspiracy to make Arafat rise from his grave and run for cover!

How many Hindus (idolators) realise that Jews abhor idolators. According to the Torah(the Jewish Holy Book)the Jews shouldn’t have anything to do with idolators at the first place. Infact the Living God of the Jews commands them to wipe out any race which practices idolatory.

Is that how you want to get us to hate the Jews!?

    Try again.

    WMD,

Thanks, I didn’t know this piece of info about the Jewish religion. BTW, isn’t the Torah also known as the Bible in common parlance, and that much of today’s Biblical sayings (apart from the stuff that the Apostles have supposedly preached) have been derived from the original Jewish Torah? Because I’m unaware of this line in the Jewish Torah, I cannot comment on it. However, could you please elaborate on the Jewish record of killing the idolators?

No, never hate the Jews. In fact those who pray for the well being of the nation of Israel will be blessed. No people or religion will be able to harm the Jews and the nation of Israel because they are the people of the one and only Living God. The Living God has blessed USA because of the kindness shown by them to their Jews. Islam will never decimate the nation of the Jews, Israel. So it is written. So it shall be.

Sandeep,if u have a copy of the BIBLE read the old testament for loads of refernces on Israelis killing idolators. Read book of Kings for knowing about what happened to worshippers of Baal.

Here’s an Arafat obituary I read somewhere:

“You are not supposed to say anything about the dead unless it is good.

    He is dead.

    Good.”

Er what about BJP’s statement mourning Arafat’s death and calling it a heroic innings?

    Jahnvi,

So what? India is a democratic country and every political party has the freedom of speech to voice its thoughts. I don’t see the reason why you pointed that out to me.

Because you mentioned only about the UPA govt condoling Arafat’s death. I have nothing to say for Arafat, Period. But going by your logic, is BJP trying to appease the minority votebank by condoling his death or shall we call it an exercise in diplomacy?

Came here through another blog pointing to your post “Blow to Secularism”, good one!
