I’ve had it with spam comments. Despite the ever-responsive and helpful MadMan, who keeps giving me tips–and bonks my head–to combat (and avoid) comment spam, I keep getting spammed to no end. Which is why I’m seriously considering the prospect of migrating this blog from MT to another platform.
After some basic research, I found that TextPattern appealed to me, especially after reading this. I am a no-brainer when it comes to choosing the technology, stuff to be kept in mind, blah blah blah: too lazy to do all that. So, if any one among the bright folks out there can educate me whether this is an advisable choice, I shall forever be grateful to you: I know there’s no telling I won’t get spammed if I use TextPattern, but I’m seriously considering the transistion.

Sandeep,
While you are researching for blogging software do look at wordpress. It has a much vibrant community which is constantly fighting to improve their spam fighting capabilities.

I think if you install the CAPTCHA thingy you can continue with MT itself.

I am too lazy to do that myself, so currently I am surviving on MT Blacklist.
Sandeep,
Do you still get spam if you enable TypeKey authorisation? And Captcha?
I agree with Pankaj, WordPress is a good alternative to MT; but comment spam is a problem with WP too. There are several tools available, but spammers eventually manage to beat them.
I have had exactly ONE spam message since installing my captcha. Ditto on Yazad’s site. Install it.
And where do you get the templates for all these design changes?
