Friends, Romans, and Countrymen, I hereby announce that after careful deliberation and considering things that a fellow blogger recently told me, I’ve hereby decided to rename my blog from Seriously Sandeep to its current title, Layers of Truth. With my penchant for not lettings be as they are for a long time–I guess it has something to do with my mercurial nature–I had to take this painful decision of letting:
a) The title
b) The design as it is now
stick in its present form for eons to come a considerable length of time.
That said, when I first started rambling blogging, I had an ambitious plan of educating all of humanity but as I trod the blog world, I realized that a lot of people are better equipped for the task than I am. And so I diverted my energies to uncover deceit as practised by the media, academia, and–do I need to mention it–the political establishment. I have my biases and rightly so.
Those acquainted with this blog for some time probably assume that I’m what is popularly known as “right-leaning,” and that I am somehow connected with the RSS: (not Real Simple Syndication), the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. I am not in any way connected to any such formal organization but I do take a keen interest in all things India, and Hinduism. The reason for this is the continuous stream of insight that I’m getting over the recent years into the Indian heritage. It has opened new avenues of thought and experience, which I intend to share from time to time. I find lot of stuff there worth emulating, and internalizing.
For this and this reason alone, I take up cudgels now and then, when people, especially the media, misportrays, misinterprets, and deliberately falsifies several–if not all–aspects of the Indian heritage in the name of progress and modernity. The one very effective tool the media employs to achieve this end is this: it deliberately speaks from ignorance with authority and both prevents and blocks all channels that try to air the view that contradicts its position.
Therefore, as a service to millions of truth-seekers, I try to peel the mask off these layers of falsity in the hope that the world sees the layers of truth hidden beneath.
So, please do update your blogroll. For the last time, for my sake.

i like the other name better! Don’t your readers get a vote?
Saneep, You should add an about page, which will have your e-mail address so that people can contact you or even put it on your home page.
Kama,
Well, readers do get a vote, however the matter is not “readers get to decide what’s the best title.” The title of this blog indicates the progress/evolution of my own perspectives, etc. But thanks anyway
JK,
I had an about page earlier, but scrapped it subsequently because I found it to be insipid later.
Still having problems with the design? (I am using firefox 1.0 and the “Peeling off deceit in media” is overwritten in the homepage)
Praveen,
I design ONLY for internet explorer, I’m a Microsoft fanatic in some ways
As a special favour, please use IE to read my blog. :d)
Seriously though, your writing (thinking) is too bright, too interesting to sit beneath what may be considered a cliche! What i mean is that you are too good for that.
Nevertheless, i’ll leave this topic alone and simply go back to reading.
Not so far-fetched to think it will change again anyway…
Respectfully,
k.
Hey man,
I do like the name change. Think of it as a death and rebirth, a baptism of sorts.
BTW, you are a great blogger, and I think the only reason that some other desi blogs get more traffic is because they link and post about all sorts of inane crap (that the wandering and homeless cow left behind) along with the good. While with you, it is blogging on a higher level. Now I do like Sepia Mutiny, but God knows that they need a blogger like you there too.
And yeah, go India!! India, I do believe, needs all the intelligent right leaners it can get, after we bet on the wrong horse in the Cold War. Non-Aligned Movement my ass! *spit*
Seriously Sandeep is a cool name. You’re better off reverting to it. BTW, great job fighting the p-secs! You should network with other like-minded journalists.
Ridhish,
Thanks for the kind words. Getting traffic was the last thing on my mind when I started this blog. Like I said, my intent was to unload stuff off my head, which I can’t do using a “paper” diary because you tend to get complacent to maintain it on a regular basis.
And if this site does get traffic, I guess it’s a bonus or I think I’ve made a small impact somewhere. And Sepia Mutiny is one of my favourite blogs: which reminds me to include it in my blogroll.
Anon,
Thanks.
Please revert to the earlier name!
As for traffic, don’t worry about it. I think this blog will get good visibility in certain quarters where it matters. BTW, is there an email address where I can contact you?
