Shekar, why don’t you Join the Congress?

About a year ago, I had called Shekar Gupta the Public Relations Officer of the Sonia Congress party. At that time, it was understandable that Shekar spoke to Madam the way he did. The Congress party had scant chances of returning to power and they needed loads of cosmetic surgery. Shekar provided it.

Now that it is at the wheel, I wonder why it still needs toads Shekar; or am I being too naive? The title of that blog entry–The Art of Prostituting the Press to Serve the Dynasty–now seems to me prophetic. Those who want to dub me an egomaniac will need to stop and read how the Art is being perfected. I won’t dissect this piece of trash save for this line, which speaks volumes about Shekar Gupta’s hypocrisy:

It was smart of her government to cut its losses in Goa…

“Her” government, Shekar? I thought it was Dr.Singh’s government. Sonia for all practical purposes is only a functionary of the Congress party who, realistically speaking, should have nothing to do with running the government. But no, she’s the extra-Constitutional authority as we–and you certainly–all know.

But wait, I retract my promise of non-dissection. I couldn’t resist quoting this one.

No amount of self-serving distancing, spin-doctoring with the help of loyalist journalists to say that the governor acted on his own, is going to take this blot away.

Loyalist journalists aka Shekar Gupta.

Amen.
