It is payback time. After the Congress realized that it was a mistake to let George Fernandes go scot free, and renewed its attack, aided as it is by an ever-friendly media, it has now aimed its guns at Arun Shourie. The former minister’s “crime” is supposedly the “active interest” he took in
…processing the transaction’’ of the sale of Centaur Hotel, Juhu in the disinvestment procedure during the NDA rule.
But why stop merely at this specific transaction? Surely, they can enquire into all the misadventures he undertook to ruin the telecom sector; why, in fact, they can set up a separate ministry to probe all of Arun Shourie’s crimes. It can be headed by Prakash Karat or Sitaram Yechury. The commies will surely jump at the offer and finally consent to actively participate in the day-to-day running of the government.
