The Prime Minister Quoth
Thursday, 5. January 2006 - 5:02 PM
The Pioneer has a section entitled Sound Bites which carries “quotable quotes.” Today’s is from our Prime Minister who says:
My vision of rural India is of a modern agrarian, industrial and services economy co-existing side by side, where people can live in well-equipped villages and commute easily .
The underlined words reminded me of an essay that Sauvik Chakraverti (if I recall correctly) wrote. He emphasized on roads and transportation as one of the prime movers if India is ever to prosper. The PM being the eminent economist he is I’m sure, knows this fact. But it is small reconciliation that he has expressed it. Merely expressed it. The question: will the enemies within his colleagues allow him to translate the vision into reality?
