What does Khurshid Kasuri, do when he is not amusing himself at the Wagah border? He tells the bitter truth.
Pakistan’s foreign minister, Khurshid Kasuri, has said in private briefings to foreign ministers of some Nato member states that the Taliban are winning the war in Afghanistan and Nato is bound to fail. He has advised [...]

Please extend a warm welcome to the India edition of the People’s Daily. If things go well, the Hindu is well on its way to be rechristened thus.
Ok, I made that up. After I read this. Actually, you can simply scroll way down that article till you reach this portion:
The BJP knows as well as [...]

I don’t take any particular interest in following US national politics but incidents like this beg to be blogged.
Sen. Satveer Chaudhary, a practicing Hindu, was re-elected in District 50 last week on the Democratic ticket, netting 63 percent of the vote. But rather than placing a call to concede the race, his Republican opponent Rae Hart Anderson [...]

Andrew Morris proposes an alternate view of Islam; he calls it the Truth About Islam. I’m thoroughly impressed with his prose but mostly disagree with his view of Islam for reasons we shall see going forward.

I’m talking about this man.
Our propensity to bend, crawl, and cringe before might is well-known. With the current dispensation, this has acquired a new respectability but there’s a limit. Too much of bending causes back pain, and crawling endlessly hurts the knees. So, when this (Dis)honourable Chinese Ambassador says, on Indian soil,

A kind gent (lady?) left this comment on my Dalit post , which is the basis of this post. This entry partly tries to address some issues he (she?) has raised, and is partly a record of my stray thoughts on the subject.
But let me ask you a question, do you or don’t you agree [...]

Preface
This article by Francois Gautier generated quite an interesting discussion on a mailing list I’m part of. As related reading, I’d like to link to a similar article by the same author.
Gautier’s assertion is straightforward: based on available historical evidence, it is sufficient to conclude that a Hindu Holocaust has occurred.

Shivam Vij has left this comment on this post.
There is a difference between ‘Brahmin’ and ‘Brahminical’ or ‘Brahminism’.
Shivam, can you please explain what the difference is? If possible, please also cite your sources.
PS: I wanted to post this as a comment there but on several occasions in the past, my comments never saw light [...]

Sagarika Ghose is no stranger on this blog. And let me admit it, I derived an almost sadistic pleasure watching her get clobbered by Ram Jethmalani (link via the Acorn). Some fine bloggers have already put it in perspective.
I’ll just leave with a parting remark about the media’s misplaced, misunderstood priorities:
Sagarika Ghose: What is [...]

Introduction
The complete title of this book reads: Decolonizing the Hindu Mind: Ideological Development of Hindu Revivalism. Authored by one of the most brilliant scholars of our time, Dr.Koenraad Elst, this is a must-buy work for anybody who seeks to understand Hindu revivalism in post-Independence India. It is based on his doctoral dissertation on the same [...]
