Slaughter. Sanctioned.

The OBC quota bill for centrally- aided educational institutions was on Thursday approved by the Lok Sabha…

The Butcher of the Backward Classes has had the last laugh.

His zeal being infinite, he does not believe in resting after reaching a milestone, so here he goes towards the next:

…with Government promising to come up ‘very soon’ with a bill providing for reservation in unaided educational institutions.

This is what I meant Sandeep, in my comment to your earlier post, that unless the Opposition takes a strong stand against reservations, the Govt is bound to steamroll ahead.

The efforts of all those agitating doctors in AIIMs and the lathi charge in Mumbai have all gone waste.

Where is the Supreme Court which gave assurances to the striking doctors and asked them to return to work and stop the agitation?

Wasnt the Moily overseeing committee just a farce and an eyewash MERELY to break the momentum of the agitation that had become a nationwide movement in May?

If after all this, the UPA still comes to power in the next elections, I am seriously going to consider migrating out of this country!

As an aside, how many people in this country are aware that the Khairlanji killers were OBCs?

This fact is being kept under wraps so that the support (whatever little) that the pro-reservation lobby has does not suffer!

    Ravindra,

    Great comments, as usual.

    >>that unless the Opposition takes a strong stand against reservations, the Govt is bound to steamroll ahead.
On the Reservations issue, NO PARTY in India will ever risk opposing it. The precious vote bank fear always haunts everybody. That’s what I referred to in my posts by setting precedents.

That would be political suicide. You can be assured that the NDA would never have pulled something like this without considering solid social data. Why am I so sure ? Read on.

The same Ramadoss and Karunanidhi were in the NDA for six years. Year after year, they used to pressurize the government for quota for OBCs (since TN is 75% OBC they have an interest). Every year in Feb-April, they used to file a case in the Madras HC for implementing quota for the JEE. All this was of no avail because the NDA (BJP) was quite firm.

There was also no hanky panky with the health ministry (the previous health minister was an outstanding doctor Dr CP Thakur – who is an award winning physician credited with pioneering work to eradicate Kala Azar). Folks like Ramadoss were kept in check. The NDA also appointed one of the most outstanding surgeons this country has produced Dr Venu as director of AIIMS.

The UPA is rudderless, this quota is directly a result of TNs influence on the government. They seem to be helpless against claims of backwardness.

The NDA may have had its faults, but they would never have divided the country like this. At the very least they would have excluded the creamy layer – which the court is certain to do !
