UPA Inc is hellbent on continuing Nehru’s shameful Chinese legacy. Despite worrying news about Chinese adventures in Arunachal Pradesh, our venerable Mukherjee insists on pretending to be blind.
India’s growing ties with the United States cannot be seen as a tool being used by Washington to contain China, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee said on Wednesday. [...] “We do not believe in containing any country whether big or small. No power can contain any other power,” the minister said.
The UPA has about 2 years to completely capitulate to China despite severe warning signals all around. If you close your eyes and pretend it doesn’t exist, it’ll go away.

what a load of crap!!! I hope someday China implodes in its own contradictions, like the ex-USSR. If it doesn’t it’s good bye Kashmir, Arunachal, Assam etc.
Who knows? Chindu’s N.Ram may be appointed as the PM of the Arunachal province for the passionate service provided by him to his Godfathers….
nah. on the other hand the chinkis are too smart.. they know how to use-and-throw..

Some flashback - http://www.tibet.ca/en/wtnarchive/2003/11/17_4.html
China will not disappear..although purportedly “communist”..it’s quite proud of it’s 5000 year old Middle Kingdom psyche.
The USSR disintegrated mainly because of the collapse of it’s “nationalities” model. China’s case is different. They have also focused on the economy.
The Chinese have the tendency to push and shove and watch reactions. They remain calm and do not over react. They plan moves well in advance. They know a war will not work.
The Chinese famously leave some of their problems for another generation. We can play the same game.
It’s a battle of nerves.
Let’s not be so eager to call our politicians traitors.

Hehehe…Chinese buccaneers at wishful-thinking best! Lol, USSR’s disintegration is a testimony of the bankruptcy of Marxist-Leninist thought and their ramshackle economics. “Nationalities”? Huh, it certainly is convenient to live in denial. Back to the future…onward 1917. Tra-la….

Under what circumstances can China disintegrate like the USSR did?

We were already squirming when he was going on about how India supported China’s right to be in the P5 of the UNSC even during and after the 1962 war.
But he compounded the impression of naive idealism when to my friend’s question on whether such warmth is being reciprocated today. Mr Mukherjee replied that mainland China had a “right” to be a permanent member of the UNSC, while India is only making a demand based on valid grounds, like democracy, population, faith in the UN charter etc.
And he categorically stated that Tibet is a part of China, no questions asked. The Dalai Lama was in India mainly because he was a religious leader.

China is an empire. The subdued rural peasants, Uighur separatists, Tibetans, Hong Kong people etc. It depends how the communists manage dissent and introduce democracy. They cannot sustain the current extent of supression without serious consequences. Economy and nationalism acts as a vent to popular frustration. This cannot work perennialy. Something’s gotta give.

Have you read Neville’s book on the China War ?
We Indians should set our internal house in order first. Please ponder over .
1- What is the concept of India offering to the people of the Tawang area. Or for that matter, what vision is being offered to Nagas, and Mizos ?
2- Are we only through with 60 years of correcting 5000 year problems ?
3- The Chinese culture is one of extremely low hype and perhaps even an obsession with being aware of their weaknesses. We are the direct opposites.

Sadly I fear India has greater chances of disintegrating.. (Call me a cynic).
1. India has a far greater muslim population than china.
2. China keeps its Islamic terrorists under control, while India indulges muslims and their terrorists at our expense !!
3. China’s economy is better..

This is key. But that is a Chinese problem. If they recognize it as such…they will sail free…maybe nevertheless. There is really no reason to suspect that the Chinese will slip up. Developments from Deng’s time display few flaws in judgement. Even the Tiannanmen Square massacre had a shorter echo than the free world had hoped for. Ultimately, China is playing the economy game.
With hindsight…Gorbachov might have benefited the USSR with more perestroika than glasnost. His experience would have surely told the Chinese that they were on the right path.
It is too painful to India, to be compared with China. Inspite of our hype.
I agree with Realitycheck completely. Additionally, I would suggest a quick read of Tarun Vijay’s China diaries for a flavor of that nation’s spirit.
On the border: Least anyone forget…H-Vadi hysterics on the border dispute and on Tibet..will have to reckon with Vajpayee’s visit to China in 2003 and it’s fallout.
Brahma Chellany is a good source of information.

This govt. is itself full of the left/marxist/socialistic school of thought alumni and is supported by people who have Mao in their hearts and Stalin’s portraits on the walls. This the crowd that ‘learns’ from the likes of Romila Thapar and Mushirul Hasan. A certain affinity towards China is natural for them.

I am reading “The Man Who Changed China” by Robert Lawrence Kuhn. It’s a biography of Jiang Zemin. It’s a great read for anyone who wants to know how the Chinese…even amongst their leadership, reacted during their tumultuous history. More than anything else, we learn how different is the basis and motivation for Chinese “communism”.
Deng’s cat…no matter black or white…is still catching mice…and is named “Communism”..
A pet cat must have a name..correct?
