Those who read in this book truthfully and with complete devotion .....YOU END UP LEARNING THIS GREAT SCIENCE .........ITS VALID NO MATTER HOW MANY YEARS BEFORE IT WAS PUBLISHED........but please dont learn it from a partially realised person.... a person who has not had complete realisation will not be able to guide you and it is not good for you spiritually also.....

I love this book...i have literally had strangely emotional moments with the image of Yogananda on the cover (not sexual). The way I found out about this book was quite interesting. I happened to meet an old woman at the supermarket and she invited me to her book release party in a few days. I ended up going to get a copy of her book, and met the woman who did the illustrations, editing, and design for it whose name is Jet Dana. We got to e-mailing and she suggested a number of books that she thought i would be interested in and this book was one of them. I read some online, but I just had to go out and buy it. It was well worth it, and I hold it dear to me.

I'm glad to hear there are many others that love this too. And i just have to say my mind would be slightly less open if i hadn't read this. It also helped me regain my faith as a Catholic (or at least to realize what it means to be Christian). Thanks Paramhansa and again to Jet Dana for introducing me to this wonderful account.

Sandeep, this is a good, captivating review. My wife loves this book as do some of my former American colleagues here in the U.S. Your review is the spotlight review for Autobiography of a Yogi on our site. Very nicely done.

Sandeep
This is OT. But read this comment by our honorable Finance minister - a Harvard graduate:

http://www.business-standard.com/common/storypage.php?autono=295847&leftnm=3&subLeft=0&chkFlg=

It is not his opinion that is disturbing. He is entitled to it crackpot it may sound. But look at his comment on book burning. Hints of the fascist state to come. Looks like Fahrenheit 451 is already upon us.

Strange - everywhere else - governments speak glowingly about their past - at least the glorious bit - but here we have a government that is doing the opposite.
As per Congresspeak India was always poor. It was after the advent of the Nehru dynasty that we became the land of milk and honey.

I read this book ages ago. At that time perhaps I was just a teenager. So I couldn't comprehend what the writer was trying to convey. Maybe I should read it again. :-)

I read this rather late in life, though the book was lying on the shelves for ages. But it is now my favorite book - I keep reaching out to it from time to time for inspiration.

I've also attended the opening sessions of the Kriya Yoga exercise conducted by the Ananda sangha, said to be descendants of Paramhansa Yogananda, but somehow came back a trifle unsatisfied. Dunno why.

Nice review, btw.

A fascinating book indeed. Have you read Living with the Himalayan Masters by Swami Rama? I heard about it only recently and from the descriptions, it seems to be of similar content.
