The Congress party has bettered its own record.
A few months ago, the "honourable" Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YSR made some–this is mildly putting it–uncharitable remarks against his bete noire, Chandrababu Naidu.
Now, it looks like a certain B.K. Hari Prasad has taken special lessons from the Chief Minister. Here’s the choicest venom he spews against Modi.
“How can he say anything against Sonia Gandhi? People know Modi was born in a gutter. He doesn’t even know his father’s name,” said Hari Prasad, who is in charge of Gujarat.
Offered without comment.

wonder why “masses” vote for congress? well.. it speaks the same language..
Without getting into details…it is more than evident that such language has become common place. And yes…across all parties. The higher echelons will desist for obvious reasons..but the hangers on will always be there to do the dirty work.
None of our politicians is a hero here.
The Advani/Vajpayee camps’ filth slinging ruined the BJP’s image …examples like the Sanjay Joshi incident is not a rarity in this “different” party.
Let’s not even go near the muck fight within the Gujarat BJP.
Hi Pal,
Why is that every time there is a con-gress put in dock you immediately try to balance it with some fictitious event about BJP…
Mayura
For people who do not know who is B K Hariprasad, he was a rowdy sheeter student from the Government Art and Sciene college, Bangalore, who was brought to limelight by CM Gundu Rao. For a rowdy sheeter who has no achievement of his own, it is quite funny when he talks about a popular CM
Modi who fostered an all round development of his state and gave a whopping 12% growth for his state. It also shows the depth to which the CON-Gress has slipped into.
Mayura
Mayura…what part of my post is fictitious?
And Mayura…a quiz for you.
What is a “Jersey Cow” and a “Hybrid Calf”…according to Modi?
I feel it is less lively to attack/address low levels of political debate across all parties…than to attack a party that one doesn’t like.
>>Why is that every time there is a con-gress put in dock you immediately try to balance it with some fictitious event about BJP…
There’s a pattern to this isn’t it?
“There’s a pattern to this isn’t it?”
- Hello Kumar..nice to hear from you again. May I ask you the same query I had for Mayura? What part of my post contained fiction?
Mayura has not responded yet….maybe you will?
Dear Palahalliji,
>> What part of my post contained fiction?
I didn’t comment as to you were stating facts or fiction. In fact, I’m so sure about your facts (especially in the ‘98 to ‘03 time window) that if I point to someone in current administration doing ……….. (fill in crime/misgovernance of your choice here), you will for sure point to someone in ‘98 to ‘03 doing the same - as if blessing the current regime. The problem with this game is that rouges ruling now are the same ones who ruled for a good part of past 50 years between ‘47 and (say) ‘97 so all that you say can be easily tossed back at you multiplied 10 times over.
Still doesn’t fix the problem at hand - some day you’ll figure it out. Or you already may have …. remains to be seen. Hence my comment about a pattern..
Kumar; I appreciate what you said. The clue to what I want to get at is also found in your post.
Let me begin by correcting one misconception about my position on the BJP. I will not even stop at 2003…but continue to the present day. Just look at the state of that sorry party.
Now for the clue…There is really no point in “tossing Congress misdeeds back 10 times over”…because those rougues will continue to prevail for many more years…as long as you excuse the BJP and its own set of incoherent cohorts.
If you notice…I don’t “bless” the current regime. I am just very irritated by the blindness that is rampant, when it comes to the BJP.
Or is it that folks here don’t like to hear this from me?
Unfortunately for all of us, the “Congress” problem will be solved only when the “BJP” becomes strong.
Whatever end of the rainbow your on….hope you find that pot of gold!
Palahalli,
I am just very irritated by the blindness that is rampant, when it comes to the BJP.
But don’t you think today the people in power who can make a difference is not BJP but UPA?
Your position reminds me of the guy who searches for his lost ring in bedroom because there’s more light in there - than in that dim lit street alley where he really lost it. I don’t get it.
Unfortunately for all of us, the “Congress” problem will be solved only when the “BJP” becomes strong.
It’s not a matter of making BJP strong or congress strong. It’s making the nation strong.
Kumar…please allow me to put it simply;
On this blog, the Congress is THE monster. Beyond repair. Any word in favor of it will attract epithets.
The BJP on the other hand…does wrong only because it is “innocent”. Kinda cute. Otherwise…nothing to beat it.
Let’s face it. A survey will reveal that 99.9% of folks here see hope only in a BJP order.
My job as a “sickular”, then, is to inform all who care to listen..that the BJP is actually no better. It’s pretty rotten in it’s own way.
I agree. Essentially, it’s a negative dialogue.
But maybe you can be a catalyst for change. How do you think the Congress can make a difference for the better?
“It’s not a matter of making BJP strong or congress strong. It’s making the nation strong.” - How does the nation become strong in the absense of constructive politics? So, I think it’s good to talk party politics too.
Pallahalli,
Unfortunately in democracy you have to choose between theif and a robber. Most times it boils down to choosing lesser of two evils, it’s not like people are married to one party (unless they are on vested interest)
If Congress is demonized, it’s because they are in power and are doing jack-diddly-shit to improve the situation and people are tired of it.
When BJP comes into to power, I’m sure if they screw up big time, people will speak out against them too. Or should we ssay BJP sucked, but it’s okay because Cong sucked for 50 years before them?
The constructive politics can’t happen while we keep giving the present guy a pass based on what some other guy in past did. If you do keeping doing that, people will only wonder if you are carrying water for the current crooks in power.
“The constructive politics can’t happen while we keep giving the present guy a pass based on what some other guy in past did. If you do keeping doing that, people will only wonder if you are carrying water for the current crooks in power.”
- Here’s where you’ve got me wrong. I have not given “the present guy” a pass on anything. I think I must say…I find H-Vadi self-righteousness very dumb.
However, what I constantly notice is a “cringe” whenever the BJP and Parivar’s record is mentioned. I can still understand if the BJP is criticized for similar or bigger failures…but you won’t see that. Instead, what you see is a lot of hocus pocus. I call this the “Savarkar Defense”. It’s like this;
“Savarkar did not really write those letters of submission to the British…he was actually following Shivaji’s strategy.”
Let me ask you something; as a party in waiting…is it not the responsibility of the BJP’s well wishers to critique its policies?..Even out of power, the party must have a stance (?) Case in point; The 1-2-3 deal. If Yes…where do we see that? If No..there is nothing more to be said.
In the meanwhile….I am all for “sickular” bashing. I too will participate. But please also take H-Vadi bashing in your stead.
Now, coming back to the thread topic..I had asked about Modi’s “Jersey Cow” and “Hybrid Calf”. All I got was a load of silence. Maybe folks were shocked huh? What do you think? But…surely you don’t need me to tell you who Modi had in mind when he used these choice “descriptions” way back in 2004? I’m sure there is a blog entry here somewhere detailing “Modi’s remarks”.
Palahalli,
When you talk about Savarkar’s letters, why not talk about the exact same plea Nehru used to get out of get jail in early 20s using his wife’s condition as a cushion - and we know how faithful he was to her/her memories.
>>is it not the responsibility of the BJP’s well wishers to critique its policies?..
What policies? They could keep writing policies till cows come home, doesnt’ matter a bit since last I checked, Manmohan and his team’s been calling shots.
>>I find H-Vadi self-righteousness very dumb
So is self-flagellating.
Not sure on Modi’s bovine choices. Or your interpretation of the same. If it helps, here’s what he said couple days ago at Hindustan times open forum:

Kumar - Your reaction to my postulated “Savarkar Defence” strengthens my diagnosis and prognosis.
You did not care to discern my views about Savarkar. You simply concluded that I somehow, defend Nehru’s excuse to get out of jail. Fyi…I have a very high opinion about Savarkar. Moreover…why dishonor his memory by imputing non-existent “tactics” that sympathetic but silly H-Vadi fans of his are prone to do…that Savarkar himself did not claim for himself?
“What policies? They could keep writing policies till cows come home, doesnt’ matter a bit since last I checked, Manmohan and his team’s been calling shots.”
- This is a surprising reaction from you Kumar. Our next elections are not a year away properly…and you say the BJP’s stated views on matters of State do not matter? Or that it carries no weight? Then on what basis do they quarrel with the present regime? On what basis do we judge the present regime’s policies? On our own limited knowledge?
Let’s take that blighted deal 1-2-3. Sandeep’s “National Interest” post…spoke about the deal being great for this country. At the same time…the Left is crucified for opposing this deal and they are called traitors to India’s national interests. So…don’t you think it’s important for us to know what’s on the BJP’s mind? Before anybody elects them? Before you and I vote for them? But of course…you and I both know that the BJP opposes this deal too. So…does THAT position hold water or not? Are the Communists correct or not? You spoke about making the Nation and not any party..stronger. Can I support the Communists on this? Since they too…are calling the shots?
Where is the bench mark Sir??
On Modi’s “bovine” remarks…I will choose not to insult your intelligence by clarifying who was meant as targets. The thread was about rotten personal remarks.
My bandwidth does not support Youtube….but will be happy to read text.
Now a days we find Congress speakers very arogant. Priyanka in her election rally last time in UP spoke ‘who gave permission to Bajpeyi to enter in this constituency’ remenmer that ?
recently PM spoke ‘ BJP has no right to speak because they had Gujrat riots.
Aa a common man I have yet to listen proper answers from people in power about fundamaental question raised abot 1-2-3. They keep on teling that it is in interest of nation and one who oposes is a traitor. Is it proper . Why dont they address the questions.
You did not care to discern my views about Savarkar. You simply concluded that I somehow, defend Nehru’s excuse to get out of jail.
The secular brigade immediately bring it up in kind of ‘did you beat your wife today’ counter-point. So, don’t be surprised if things are tossed back at you in the same tone, I too can assume you are a wife-beater.
For all I care, dead Savarkar or Nehru deals with Brits mean diddly squat.
Our next elections are not a year away properly…and you say the BJP’s stated views on matters of State do not matter?
Nation votes for BJP based on their foreign policy stand!! Please. I’ll wager that 98% of the nation and even the bloggers who shoot their mouth won’t be able to say what deal 123 is, even if we hit them over the head with it.
I will choose not to insult your intelligence by clarifying who was meant as targets
You could interpret words the way you wish Palahalli. Doesn’t mean I have to buy into it, nor should you buy mine. And don’t worry about my intelligence, even I don’t credit it too much. Everyone’s got an opinion like everyone’s got an alimentary canal.
Question for you: why do you think Quttubuding Ansari return to Gujarat?
bandwidth does not support Youtube….but will be happy to read text
Sorry, in order to create texts for the 5 videos, I could (a) take some time-management lessons from you or (b) be a part of some BJP cadre as you claim to be - so I could get credits for the time on this. Till then, we’ll table the discussion on till your personal computer bandwidth increases.
Kumar -

* Please do not equate me with any brigade. No brigade such as you mention would ever admit to admiring Savarkar. So, hopefully, this will end. Additionally, our politics tend to revolve around past events. The BJP and Parivar have ensured that such is the case…on their part too. You may care little…but reality is different.

* Nation votes along group and caste interests. So..let’s not even discuss foreign policy. But…then, we should not crib when things go wrong again.
But from you Sir, I would still like a response. Can we go with the Communists on 1-2-3?

* Hmm…how else can these words be interpreted? Was Modi surveying the milk co-operative?
Modi must be defended I am sure…and he can do no wrong

Well…let me bring us back to the thread again. The topic is about Hariprasad abusing Modi. Hariprasad is uncouth.
The twist now is…Modi’s uncouth remarks must be ignored…because he is a great administrator.
Palahalli,
Additionally, our politics tend to revolve around past events.
Bingo!! Your definition of past seems to be stuck in 5 years of NDA rule completely ignoring 50 years of Congress rule. When you stretch the time window, we can discuss these issues.
* I would choose option (a)
Please be my guest, you could give Stephen Covey a run for his money.
Was Modi surveying the milk co-operative? Modi must be defended I am sure…and he can do no wrong
Could be? Anand-Amul is in his state, no? I’ll go back to he’s stated on video just last week. Hopefully, you’ll get your fast bandwidth soon to view it.
But from you Sir, I would still like a response. Can we go with the Communists on 1-2-3?
Which communist would that be? If they had stuck to their guns, we’d be preparing for LS election today.
The twist now is…Modi’s uncouth remarks must be ignored…because he is a great administrator.
Let’s put a list of all uncouth remarks nationwide going back to ‘47? Why should we limit it to one state and one cheif minister?
Kumar;

Well…I still cannot view those videos..but what’s the big deal? Let me know if he has retracted any of his abuses in those videos.
Bingo!! Your definition of past seems to be stuck in 5 years of NDA rule completely ignoring 50 years of Congress rule. When you stretch the time window, we can discuss these issues.
- Ha! Ha!..Wherefrom did you get that idea? No..I do not ignore anybody’s rule. Of whatever period in time. But Kumar, non-NDA rule has already been demonized. Must I not look to the NDA-5 for some spiritual sustenance?

- A slip Kumar. The deal is yet to come through. But…are the Commies right? Is the BJP right? Can we trust the latter and call the former traitors?
****

- We should not. I would not. But this thread did…in the reverse.
