The Acorn takes elaborate pains to dissect Shivam Vij’s “analysis” of the “true” state of Gujarat’s economy.
I have a simpler explanation.
Ever since that earth-shattering expose, it is increasingly clear that Tehelka has declared an all-out war against Modi. If it wins, the dividends I’m sure, will be enormous. If it doesn’t, it has nothing to lose.
As Offstumped says, from “conclusive evidence,” Tehelka has found itself trying to defend itself, resorting to pathetic excuses–asking the public “not to question the motives behind the sting operations.”
So it has mounted the attack from a different quarter. Since much of Gujarat’s economic achievements are mostly credited to Modi, Tehelka has employed one of its footsoldiers on what actually is a reconnaissance mission. As Nitin’s posts show, Shivam Vij’s “article” is a good example of trying to use statistics to lie. By the way, this is a good place to start learning how to do that.
Expect the lieutenants and the colonels to follow.

For a selfish reason or not, let there be more Tehelkas. Today Modi. Tomorrow Buddhadeb. Who knows?
