Just when we were saturated reading about farmer suicides, P Sainath assaults us unawares. He changes the tack slightly for effect.
The NCRB figures show an unrelenting uptrend in what can be termed the ‘SEZ’ or (Farmers) ‘Special Elimination Zone’ States. These States, which account for nearly two-thirds of all farm suicides in the country, include Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh (including Chhattisgarh).
Like everything, the farmer suicide story has outlived its shelf life. Sainath maybe an amazing journalist and all but his incessant harping on this issue is actually more than over the top. I can only call him a Suicide Hunter.
What’s your sobriquet for the man?

Gee so because we’re tired of hearing about something that is, whether you like it or not, a sad reality, others should simply not “harp” about it?
Interesting.
Poverty porn poorist
Also interesting, no mention of Gujarat or Waste Bengal. Traveler, how about spending some time reading up the stats in question instead of fawning over a Cognac Commie like Sainath?
Sainath seems to be another power hungry guy, another Ellsworth Monkton Toohey. This is my blog post on Sainath relating to NREGA.
