Tibet stands tall in the list of Nehru’s ugly legacies. With our Comrades calling the shots now, is this news any surprise?
Indian police have arrested about 100 Tibetan exiles who set out, earlier this week, on a protest march from India to their homeland. ….the march is part of a global campaign mounted by Tibetan activists ahead of the Beijing Olympic Games, to highlight their struggle to free Tibet from Chinese rule.
Chachaji tried to assuage his guilt by creating Tibetan settlements in India. But the successors of Nehru’s Left detractors continue to profess his overwhelming China-love. Two indicators: New Delhi’s “foreign” policy towards China and China’s open declaration of India’s subservience.
“We hope that India will proceed from the overall interest of our bilateral relations and honour its commitment,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said here on Thursday. “Indian officials have said that India will never support the Dalai group” he said.
Qin did not answer a pointed question on whether China was satisfied by India’s action in stopping the marchers from leaving Dharmashala in order to fulfil their mission of reaching Tibet. Chinese officials hardly miss an opportunity to remind their Indian counterparts about the need to suppress any anti-China activities on Indian soil
Beijing has so far been reluctant to acknowledge that India with its democratic traditions would normally find it difficult to curb any kind of peaceful protest and that it has gone an extra mile for the sake of good neighbourly relationship, sources in New Delhi said.
“Good neighbourly relationship” is extremely loaded. In the present equation, it means India and China share an unequal relationship. Give power to the Left in the next elections and see how that will change: United States of China will also include India, apart from Tibet.

It’s sad to see how we treat the Tibetan protesters. And calling China a friend is like calling Osama Bin Laden a peace loving person.
