Sack Arjun Singh First, Patil can Wait

On the heels of Nitin calling for Shivraj Patil’s immediate dismissal, comes this disgusting piece of news. Arjun Singh is well-entitled to his creepy display of dynastic sycophancy loyalty a billion times. But he makes himself a candidate for deserving more than just a tight slap when he says:

“Only a person who is totally committed to the nation can make an attempt like Rajiv Gandhi did to bring murderers of his mother into the mainstream,” said the HRD minister.

The actual murderers of Indira Gandhi, sentenced to death by the courts went by the names of Beant Singh and Satwant Singh. A prominent conspirator, Kesar Singh was also awarded the death sentence. However, Arjun Singh’s statement implies something else. He simply brands the entire Sikh community as murderers of Indira Gandhi. He conveniently forgets that one of the bloody perpetrators of the 1984 Sikh massacre, who still remains unpunished, was a Cabinet Minister in this selfsame UPA motley crew.

On a personal note, the Sikhs have my enduring respect for their historic defense of Indian culture against Islamic brutality as also as a community, which has held its dignity intact in the face of some of the worst form of stereotyping perpetrated by the Congress party. That also reminds me of a touching email I read, which ends with a Sikh guy asking somebody: can you show me a single Sikh beggar on the streets of Delhi?

Most importantly, and I hate to say this, the present Prime Minister is also a Sikh.

Dr. Manmohan Singh, are you listening? For once, can you sack this dishonourable freak of nature from your cabinet? Shivraj Patil’s turn can wait.
