Cut Back to May 2004 and Signora Antonia Maino was being interviewed by her slave Raj deep Slurdesai on his newly launched CNN IBN....

I still remember this :

Rajdeep: Madam, how do you rate this Congress Victory?

Antonia: Rajdeep, this is a VICTORY OF SONIA GANDHI'S CONGRESS PARTY.

These words have hurt me continously for four years and now how the tables have turned, both Antonia and Raj deep are in CRAP CREEK WITH OUT A PADDLE!!! :)

Fellas, is showtime now, our sufferings and the 4000+ lives that were lost during this regime must be avenged......

I am itching to VOTE, these traitors out....

Four years ago there was a bit of euphoria in the air, and many people believed that India would become an economic power by 2020. Even Congress party newspapers like Indian Express wrote editorials claiming that there was a new order, and that in this new order the engines of economic growth had freed themselves from the shackles of politics and governmental control. Of course, part of the reason for such a claim is to deny credit to leaders of vision like Vajpayee, pretending instead that the new order was an inevitable consequence of Indians' desire and impatience to catch up with the world, with leaders having no choice but to obey.

All those theories can be laid to rest. The "dream team" of Manmohan and Chidambaram have injected a dose of 'realism' into our public discourse, so to speak. And the reality is that socialism is alive and kicking in India. Congress party's fans put the blame conveniently at the Left's doors, claiming that "compulsions" of coalition politics have denied the dream team a free hand. That's codswallop. The difference between Congress and the CPIM in matters of economic policy is the difference between Left and the Far Left. At least, the Left's economics stems from ideology; the Congress's on the other hand from opportunism and cowardice.

Does that mean the 2020 vision is doomed? I don't think so. I think we'll get there in 2040, if not 2020. It's just that it's not going to be a smooth ride.

India's so called aam aadmi has got what he deserved. Congress is just the effect of a cause. A cause that is equivalent to low IQ, apathy towards fellow humans problems and culture of narrow minded individualism.

We have been in catch-22 for long. Till there is Congress, we will have a very "sad" average voting population and till we have this population we will have Congress (or it's type) ruling us.

The biggest challenge is to defeat this catch-22. And it will take a generation or two of extremely dedicated leadership to break that cycle. My cynical self being has little hopes from any government disposition.
