<description>"Go well sir. May your death teach why patriotism is not an ugly word, Go well sir. May your death teach why patriotism is not an ugly word, and what war really means."

Salute to Sir SAM from this PI, too.

"... and what war really means.". San and fellow PIs, he taught us fore-mostly, 'what it meant to be winning the war'.

I lost one of my Grandpa's brother (no body know is he live or dead) in 1962 war, but my GrandPa used to say often after Simla agreement," Khaki (standard uniform of 'servicemen' won wars on fields, but 'Khadi' (not so popular any more, uniform of 'Netas') lost all the gains across the negotiation table'.

90000+ pakistanis captured in Dec.1971 by Sam Bahadur Mankeshaw's gallantly forces were exchanged for a ' PROMISE' made by Bhutto to Indira at Mall Road Simla ( any flirt know how Simla's Mall road and Ridge work on fair sex's mind / senses - know the reason) !!!!!!!

Sir Sam stood apart for not only winning the war imposed, but for standing against the 'collective and massive will of Indira' - few people know that - in very recent past we have seen some 'Generals' (secularized and thus promoted as Governors too) , SIR SAM, a Jew won for his country INDIA and divided the 'Holy Land' of faithful, not because of 'Political leadership's courage'* - Vajpeeis 'Durga one' for Indira was grossly misplaced - but despite the 'Political Leadership'.

An only and true tribute to Sir Sam would be; to claim back (by all means) POK. Even our Parliament has 'resolved' to get it back.

*Sir Sam in 1962 or 1971 (if I do not remember correctly) was challenged by Jagjivan Ram (then Defense Minister (71) or Krishna Menon(62) was trailed and subsequently 'exonerated' of indiscipline. (Correct me please, as i m in hurry and simply trying to recollect the sequence of events).

I leave this to the 'defense experts' to judge... but for past few 'appointments', no one particular General has 'inspired' me to even remember his name... leave alone, remember his legacy... except General Sundar Ji.

May Sir Sam's soul rest in peace. Amen!

May we have some more like Him. Amen!

<description>This brings us to the famous Indian victory of 1971. It was a great victory from military point of view, but more important implications were political and theoretical. Some possible learning from Sam Manekshaw legacy.
