Wanted: Vintage Military Action

35th attempt in less than a year.

132-plus infiltration attempts again, in less than a year.

Says this Indian Express report.

Less than a fortnight after Pakistan promised to stop cross-border firing, its troops on Tuesday shelled Indian posts, again violating the ceasefire along the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir…The ceasefire violation and firing by Pakistan is aimed at infiltrating militants into Jammu and Kashmir to target forthcoming assembly elections in the state, officials said adding that troops at the border are foiling infiltration attempts by militants.

And the game goes on. Pakistan keeps denying its sponsorship and/or mentorship on terror attacks aimed at India. We complain and run out of steam. And they strike again.

Have we completely lost the capacity for some vintage military bamboozling?

Your frustration is understandable, but what we need is not just the military response (which I support); we need to work toward the break-up of Pakistan as a unified entity using ALL means – diplomatic, economic, intelligence, fueling more sectarian fission within Pakistan.
This should be a policy that should be carried out with single purpose of mind over an extended period of time until the goal is achieved. If the ISI wants to bleed us with a thousand cuts – we should inflict a million. They do one Kashmir to us – we should do three or four (count Sindh, NWFP, Balochistan, Ahdmadiya vs. Shia vs. Sunni – all against Barelvis)

I do subscribe to the view first proposed by KPS Gill that the Pakistani state – the STATE (not an individual) acts as a suicide bomber – http://www.satp.org/satporgtp/kpsgill/2003/chapter1.htm

You cannot reason with suicide bombers, oyu can only work to their destruction prior to them achieving their goal
