Let me tell you the interpretation of zakir naik is not correct ( in fact they are foolish). Nowhere in vedas it is said what you should do and what you shouldn't. It is not a guide book like Quran where it specifies what is legal and what is illegal in clear terms. In simplified manner Vedas are prayers to god. and these prayers were discovered and complied by humans. Not like Islam where god actively comes and gives instructions to humans about do's and don'ts. concept of god in Hinduism is completely different from that in Islam. It might be difficult for you to understand the concept of god is Hinduism because of your Islamic background. if you really want to understand Vedas forget you are Muslim and knows anything called Allah and his commandments. One more thing Hinduism is not a religion is strict sense . There are at least six major school of philosophies which are not at war with themselves (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hindu_philosophy). Though there are some philosophical disputes among them, but none of that dispute is worldly. sankhya philosophy which was promoted/given by sage kapila was atheistic is nature in starting. which never believed in force called god. It believe in purush ( human in higher consciousness) and prakriti ( nature in crude translation). This philosophy later turned to be theists. surprise for you you can be a Hindu without believing in god itself.
