Media as the Toxin-Spreading Agent

Question: What happens when lunacy mates with charlatanism?

Answer: It produces Kancha Ilaiah.

By writing this post, I’m actually dignifying this freeloader and Nth rate “scholar”  who has built a glorious career on the edifice naked hatred of Hinduism. It is not so much to “respond” to his venomous fulminations than to observe how the media, yet again, adds more dung to the severely-polluted space of public discourse. Kancha Ilaiah’s entire corpus of wrathful writing easily lends itself to a post-doctoral thesis on the pathology of Hindu hatred. There’s nothing he doesn’t hate: from the Vedas to the IITs and IIMs, his malice has a timeless quality to it. And there’s no evil in India that he cannot link to Brahmins. And as is the case with cerebral pathology, he brands his critics as evil Brahmin conspirators out to silence him. Is there a sufficiently intimidating scientific word to describe pathology mixed with acute schizophrenia?

Thus it is with his latest ungrammatical eruption of spite against Vande Mataram. The article is a deadly mixture of ignorance, falsehood, and hatred. Deadly because there’re already enough folks in the country who actually believe this trash is truth.

Clearly, Kancha hasn’t read Anandamath. If he has, then we have to conclude that he’s a double-headed serpent. He says Anandamath is a novel and Vande Mataram is a song

…written to instigate Hindu sanyasis to make a communal attack against Muslims in the novel Anandamath…In this atmosphere of national reforms and anti-colonial struggle, why did Bankim write a novel with Brahmin sanyasis as protagonists revolting against the Muslims and not the British?

If anything, Anandamath directly attacks the British—specifically, the British policies of creating manmade famines that killed millions of Indians. Check the Wikipedia entry on the novel for a brief synopsis. But Kancha’s poisonous genius turns poor Bankim’s plot on its head. Anything is fair game to kick damn Hinduism. Of course, he doesn’t bother with pesky historical realities like how the Muslim lobby steadfastly refused to participate in the freedom struggle, and in numerous cases, helped to sabotage it. Oh and because it’s convenient, he also borrows some helpful poison from the Marxist fantasy of Indian history.

…conversion of masses of people into Islam had made Hindus a minority in East Bengal…Who were these Muslims? The majority of them were SCs, STs and OBCs who moved into Islam because of the caste oppression within Hinduism.

And then piles nonsense upon mountain of nonsense before triumphantly concluding that

As an OBC I would never sing Vande Mataram as it represents Bhadralok Brahminism and not the nation as whole.

Excellent, adequately spine-chilling, and sufficiently inspiring. Back to reality: here’s the champion lunatic of the Oppressed who repeatedly says he wants to annihilate the caste system but never fails to identify himself as an OBC. His avowed life-mission is the upliftment of the Bahujans–OBCs and Dalits—but hasn’t really condemned a certain Bahujan’s pampering of Brahmins. He loathes Hinduism with unmatched fervour but has no qualms in using reservations to further his career—it is not for nothing that he always uses “OBC” to identify himself just like some people use “Dr” to identify themselves. It is incredible to even believe that Kancha got where he is based purely on merit. His sub-zero language/communication skills—for a Phd, a full-time Professor at that, this is sub-zero—apart from a yawning absence of even basic reasoning wouldn’t have gotten him anywhere realistically. But it is evident that he has more than adequately compensated this lack by shrill hollering and shrewd politicking.

And this exactly is what is so horribly wrong.

Eminences like Kancha Ilaiah claim to speak on behalf of almost a sea of Indians, and instead of empowering them, do the exact opposite. Thanks to his efforts, the millions belonging to backward castes and Dalits become ripe fodder for the worst kind of scavenging at the hands of Evangelist vultures. It’s only logical that Kancha is the darling of both Islamists and Christists.

This by implication means that he’s also a darling of the secular media, which is a bigger culprit than Kancha, Islamists and Christists put together because it both enables and legitimizes the spread of his nefarious toxin. He’s a regular columnist with the Deccan Chronicle and writes for Outlook from time to time. The latest entrant into this hall of shame adorned by these two rags is NDTV. Needless, Burqa Dutt is the Master of Ceremony. Watch this self-explanatory video. Naturally, she does what she’s best known for: shouting in your face, cutting off people mid-sentence, and a general tendency to sound important. However, the very fact that she invited a person known for his hatred of Hinduism is a reflection of NDTV’s own depravity (Burqa, will you send me a legal notice too?). More fundamentally, Vande Mataram should not be a subject of debate. Actually subjecting the national song—which has more than just patriotism attached to it—to a debate is just another instance of our collective Dhimmitude. Oh but you must watch Burqa Dutt’s delightful performance in this excerpt (from the same interview) when she cues Kancha about Goddess Durga. Unsurprisingly, Kancha has become an overnight celebrity of sorts with the secular new channels. Expect more from this malevolent eminence in the coming days.

Actually, Vande Mataram and in the larger context, Hindu Gods and Goddesses deserve the treatment they’re currently getting. Serves them right for being worshipped by such spineless millions.

sandeep well written , want to add one more point kancha illaiha is a regular columnist in the xinhua of india, ‘The Hindu’

  2. psudo

Strangely No one talks about Jana Gana mana , which was written for praising British king on his visit to India? How did it became our National anthem? So we are ready to praise King but not “Bharat Mata” isnt that strange.

Good one Sandeep. But beware of the “godess of virtues” – Burqa. She might
pour the lava-of-wrath on you with legal notices and lawsuits. :)
It is disappointing to see these parasites connecting each and every evil
in the world to Hinduism and Indian civilization. Recently I happened to
read an article by ‘the expensive lunch historian’ on the plight of Maoists
and she was using it as an opportunity to malign Kautilya, as usual with her
    baseless convictions.

no comment necessary. this Q&A is self explanatory.

“Kancha Ilaiah is the chairman of the political science department at Osmania University, a social activist and author. He is a Buddhist[citation needed]and a major figure in the ideological movement against the Indian caste system. His polemic is often labelled as anti-Hindu by several of his critics (both Hindu and Muslim),[1] including Hindu advocacy groups[2], and he has himself stated that he hates Hinduism.[3]”

Above is the introduction of Kancha Ilaiah in Wikipedia… I have read him where he has said, he converted to Buddhism because he wanted freedom from the casteism in Hindu society (though not in the same words) probably in his famous(?) award winning book “Why I’m not a Hindu”

But this same hypocrite in the above article says, “As an OBC I would never sing Vande Mataram as it represents Bhadralok Brahminism and not the nation as whole”

How on earth can he remain both an OBC and a Buddhist? Double acting? or double personality?

  6. Sanjay

Kanchan Iliah is a church agent and a closet Christian. Don’t be fooled by his “OBC” or “Buddhist” claims — this is merely a false flag operation. He is purely driven by evangelical hatred of Hinduism.

What a disgrace to Buddhism (if Kancha is indeed one).

The very first verses of the Dhammapada state:

    1. All that we are is the result of what we have thought: it is founded on our thoughts, it is made up of our thoughts. If a man speaks or acts with an evil thought, pain follows him, as the wheel follows the foot of the ox that draws the carriage.

    2. All that we are is the result of what we have thought: it is founded on our thoughts, it is made up of our thoughts. If a man speaks or acts with a pure thought, happiness follows him, like a shadow that never leaves him.

    3. For hatred does not cease by hatred at any time: hatred ceases by love, this is an old rule.

This man has based his whole life on hatred and claims to be Buddhist. What a mockery !
Religion and spirituality are far far away from this man. I often wonder what sort of response people like him deserve, just plainly ignore them with disgust or give a fitting reply.

I am glad Kancha is not a Hindu. Vileness like his has no place in our tradition whether it be Hinduism or Buddhism.

Sandeep here’s something you might find interesting:http://www.outlookindia.com/article.aspx?210610

Some of his comments are outrageous.

And towards the end of the interview(the link to the profile is pasted above) when asked if he has any Brahmin friends this is what he says:
“Upper-caste women particularly are very sympathetic to me. Perhaps because they too have experienced the oppression of the Brahmanical male. In fact, the women’s movement in India has a very fundamental link with the dalitbahujan struggle”.

Dosent he seem all to eager to rescue these women from what he terms ‘oppression of the Brahmin male’? At the risk of sounding inappropriate i must say Kancha’s hatred for Hinduism hasn’t quite quelled his “Earthy” desires.

P.S:having seen Kancha’s latest salvo(Post -Hindu India) on the front rack of a local bookstore.;and having heard academicians call it ‘Mainstream discourse’
one wonders where our country is headed.

  9. Ram

Watch the NDTVs Big fight on the language topic. Kanchan elaiah brought a poster depicting that English should be the language which can liberate the Dalits. “All other Languages should be erased and English only should be there”- He opined and everyone applauded. India is infected by a disease more sever than the AIDS and that is the poisonous media.

  10. prachetas

Kancha Illaih is a loser who has inferiority complex because of his dark skin. His infatuation for fair skin has made him a perfect agent for evangelists and jihadis to spread their nefarious hatred for humanity. He thinks all his ancestors were fools and loosers and he, because of his little education is smartest of all OBCs. He is not fit to talk on our behalf. He is not our representative and is just an agent of Britain and Pakistan.

  11. S

“He is not our representative and is just an agent of Britain and Pakistan.”

Prachetas, I beg to differ. From his name “Eliyah” and his talk about so-called “Dalits” and “Bahujans” it is immediately clear that he is a christian. Christians are selling this so-called “plight of Dalits” to their masses in the West, and NDTV is controlled by Prannoy James Roy. Vatican is spreading confusion in the land of heathens, and it hopes for a big harvest. Psy-ops.

    Hi all,

You might know this, Sunday there was ethnic violence and over 5000 displaced from home to a refuge camp, all of them were Hindus (tribals), needless to say who is behind this violence.

Main stream Media’s silence is much understandable, as victims are minority Hindus. Have a look at this editorial, the mention of word Hindu is conspicuously missing.

I certainly support Sandeep. Lot of these pseudo Buddhists don’t know the meaning of Buddha particularly in India. I think largely because of their hatred for Brahmanism & inferiority complex they label themselves as Buddhists.
I’ll post your view points in my blog.

Sandeep – thanks for the expose. but unfortunately, like another comment read, these guys are in the main stream and english speaking urbanites believe these hate-filled manipulators. As statistics shows, unfortunately, 90% of populace believe what they read first (analysis and dissection comes later). I think a mechanism needs to be set up where these manipulators are exposed and thereby preventing minds of non-english speaking populace of india (from being polluted by these manipulators). English speaking middle class / upper middle class believe everythign they see on CNN-IBN and NDTV. It would be almost impossible to change their minds.

  15. hari

    > English speaking middle class / upper middle class believe everythign they see on CNN-IBN and NDTV. It would be almost impossible to change their minds.

That’s very wrong. For instance, The Hindu is notorious among the middle classes for its political views a long time ago. People still buy it only for the “extra” features it offers and not for the editorial pages. I know some people who buy it purely for the obituary columns.

Similarly I trust that not many watching of the middle class CNN-IBN or NDTV concentrate on the analysis or reviews of the editorial staff (Burkha Dutt and Sardesai etc.) and instead are more interested in the “Breaking News” sections and the trash celebrity gossip/worship.

The very existence of this blog and several other similar blogs shows us that there are a lot of people who don’t subscribe to the mainstream political media and think independently and critically.

Hate-spewing retards like Iliah are not the big threat. The bigger threat is the passivity of Hindus in accepting the wrongs done to our Nation in the name of secularism.

    There is hope.

Well Buddhism has become all watered down into something, lets call it “pop buddhism” that Hollywood celebrities support. These people would be surprised to realize that at the beginning Buddhism was a severely austere religion, and that its association with compassion and passivity came much later in its development–

    Response to “psudo”:

    Try this link,
    http://www.freeindia.org/vmataram/genesis_of_janaganamana.shtml

I do not know who came up with the bull shit you talked about, but like Kancha Iliyah, rhetoricians are on a roll now-a-days. Just because you can make an opinion does not make that opinion valuable, the opinion needed to be grounded logic or history. Anything that happened in recent Indian history is not a conspiracy designed by Marxists/Secularists/Royalists/Islamists.

reading your articles is such a big solace………….particularly after the mounting frustration of watching all the news channels and reading all the newspapers. Thank you………… a heck of a lot!!!

  19. N Shah

Bravo! A pointed attack that tears Illiah apart- I think we need of your commentary to reach the hearts and minds of those who’re, quite frankly speaking, almost overwhelmed with the bullshit about secularism that’s on NDTV and IBN. If Illiah is self -styled ‘intellectual’ fighting for OBC causes on prime time television, he should probably meet the lady (you know who it is) who has a Brahmin by her side to guide her through the highs and lows of her political life (err..sorry..political ’struggle’..I should say)

  20. Palahalli

I just finished posting my own observations -

Shortly, I feel that unless Kancha says he’s forsaken his Kuruma traditions, he’s a Hindu.

We should not get distracted by his vain and propagandistic anti-Hinduism rhetoric. He tries hard to get folks he sees as “Brahmins” to react negatively to his “theories”.

This allows him to identify Hinduism with the “Brahmin” and other so called “upper” Castes and none other than these unless we have some figures identifying themselves as of the Castes of the Shudra Varna who will oppose him. There are plenty of such Hindus I’m sure.

On the other hand and with regards to the Vande Mataram issue on IBN (Barkha Dutt), did no one notice the utter lack of support for the Hindu side? There was nobody who spoke for the Hindus and their national heritage in the body of Vande Mataram.

  21. Nis

Kanchi Illaih is fully backed by western evangelical groups. Do not be fooled into thinking that he is hindu or buddhist

  22. Nisha

Hey you guys!! I am so happy I stumbled on this blog. You cant imagine the pain I am going through as an NRI who has just returned to India to witness all this crap here! The rucus on Vande Mataram happened while I was in the US and had blogged on it with a lot of passion. Please refer how the veil of Mother India hangs in shame!!

    >>National Traitors – Rajdeep Sardesai, Karan Thapar, Sagarika Ghose

To call a chamcha a traitor is to dignify the chamcha. Before you can say “traitor!” the butt-licker is feigning injured innocence and protesting your “assault” on “liberal values”. He has become a hero in his own eyes because somebody called him a traitor. I suggest you praise his loyalty instead. Loyalty to the Congress party and his abiding commitment to taste nothing but only the government’s butt.

  25. Palahalli

Nis – Kancha being backed by this or that group is not the issue.

At least not as much as the fact that his views are current currency amongst a number of Dalit ideologues who perhaps have not been bought and who are actually sincere in expressing their angst.

I think we commit a blunder when we ignore or are indifferent to the argumenations of the likes of Kancha. This blind-side is then used as “silence of the guilty” or “silence of the traitors to the cause”.
