What I had kinda predicted when the Anna Circus had erupted is slowly coming true. Most of the “leading jokers lights” in the circus are now beginning to chant the “my clown is funnier than yours” mantra.
Which is why I had warned that this isn’t the way to fight/check corruption.
Recall this dialogue from Chanakya—perhaps the best made TV serial to ever grace Indian television—where Indradutt, the Prime Minister of King Parvateshwar says the following about Kautilya (not verbatim) :
woh daan mein diya hua vastr pehenta hai aur bhiksha ke ann par palta hai |
Aise manushya ka kya swarth ho sakta hai?
(He wears clothes that were given to him in charity and eats food by begging. What kind of selfish motive does such a person have?)
Therein lies a clue to how you can fight/check corruption.
Folks, India Today magazine has carried out its annual nationwide public opinion poll called “State of the Nation” poll. Results are very revealing.
People of India’s most popular choice for the post of prime ministership is Narendra Modi, the chief minister of Gujarat. He gets 24% of the votes of all people polled. The nearest contender to Modi is Rahul Gandhi, who gets 17% of the votes.
Modi has for years won the popular opinion poll in India Today for the title of most popular chief minister in India. And he wins that title this time as well. But this is the first time he has been voted as the person most people want to see as the PM of India.
This is fantastic news because this shows how popular Narendrabhai is in India.
Also, BJP/NDA has done much better than Congress in the opinion polls.
This shows we dont give the people of India the credit they deserve. They are not as stupid as we thought they were. They have their own mind and will not be led blindly by the anti-Modi mainstream media, NGO classes and academia. Modi I repeat – is the most popular politician in India and the person most people want to see as India’s prime minister.
Now, I am looking forward to the next election. Its gonna be fun.

We all are a little skeptics. Even I didn’t think Anna’s movement would succeed. But it was and is skeptism. I think it is difficult to keep a large flock together for a long time. If the govt could have come down to accept all demands of team Anna in 1 month, we won’t know the true faces of many men on both sides…

their children’s tales are full of prince charmings coming and saving princesses in distress, santa coming and giving away goodies. adults are fed fantasies of son of Dog salvating them…

Secondly, brahmana is motivated by desire to realize truth of all. and goes on to realize ‘Tat tvam asi’, ‘Aham Brahmasmi’.
It is kshatriya, who can make change in society, suitably guided by brahmana.
Third, selflessness is integral to bharatiya samskriti. The arya quality/characterstic. It is that predominant feature that built up this samskriti. It pervades all sections/stratas of society.

I do not know what Sanjeev Sabhlok will say to this reply. Maybe Sanjeev is too idealistic? What hope is there for a corruption free India with the current bunch at the top.
Like with the Rediscovery of Indian History, too many people/”historians” ( including Romila Thapa) will lose out with their power, interest and influence when people find that they were wrong or there is at least an alternative view.

attachment to progeny, desire for fame (as a great renunciate), anticipation of heavenly life after death, etc., are also indicators of swarth.
The masks on the faces of Bhushans, Khejriwal,Bedi, Agnivesh have all been torn apart revealing , that they are not clean and have been having a free ride whenever opportunity strikes. NGO s thay run are a facade to just cover up the shady deals., which they cannot indulge in as individuals.
What moral right do they have to lead a crusade, and also make laws to enable them to sit in high offices, – POWER WITHOUT RESPONSIBILITY, ACCOUNTABILITY & MANDATE ??
The real face of these pretenders became evident when
a) They didn’t want Bharat mata as a mascot – claiming it is communal
b) Modi’s governance cannot be accepted since it tantamounts to panedring to saffronist group !!
c) repeated calls and appeals the team made to the “queen” seeking benevolence !! Would any group claiming right of power to an ombudsman appeal to the Prime suspect ?? LAUGHABLE WERE THEIR STATEMENTS.

sandeep – are you saying there is not enough selfish motivation in Anna’s team to fight corruption? Meaning, someone with a objective of siezing power from the existing government would be able to fight corruption more effectively?
All that team Anna has done is to take the pressure (public anger) away from the Congress just like a valve on a cooker. The real losers are BJP. Congress to rule for another 10 years. Jai Sonia Mata.
