Why Blame Others When Hindus Themselves are Cowards?

NOTE: This is my translation of Pratap Simha’s piece titled Hindugale Haedigalaagiruvaaga Anyarannu Doori Phalavenu that appeared in Kannada Prabha on August 25, 2012. As always, comments and criticism are welcome.

67995968It has been called brain drain or flight of talent. Much noise has been made against it. It has been held responsible for this nation’s continued backwardness. But then, no matter what, in the 1970s, 80s, and 90s decades, people who had dreams of  building a bright future for themselves, people who embarked on a quest to find career opportunities, people who thought that there were no avenues in India to showcase their talent, people who desperately wanted to escape the noose of Reservations…people…Indian doctors and engineers and scientists and other professionals who wanted to leave their own mark migrated abroad. And once they migrated, they succeeded beyond their wildest dreams, settled there, and became citizens of those foreign nations.

BUT…

…. but…despite achieving such outstanding success, they experienced a vacuum…the sort that makes you feel empty in an atmosphere where everything is aplenty. The sort that brings you emptiness. The sort that leaves you feeling orphaned. These and similar experiences tormented these Indians. Which is what gave rise to the “You can take an Indian out of India but you can’t take India out of an Indian!” expression. Indians who have permanently settled abroad, who have imbibed their social mores, still visit India religiously, year after year. India is for them a binding force. Sunita Williams, presently somewhere in Outer Space, sent her Independence wishes on August 15. She unfurled the Tricolour in her Spaceship and said, “As you all know, I’m half Indian. My father is Gujarati. That’s how I’m familiar with Indian customs and traditions. I feel proud to say that I’m also part of India!”

BUT…

The same Sunita Williams who feels so proud to say that she’s part of India…will that India remain India as we know it, as the world knows it? Will this India remain intact? Will this India, in just a few decades not break into splinters again? Besides, what kind of conditions are being fomented in India today, even as we speak? What sort of religious-fundamentalist abyss is this nation being pushed to today? At a future time, forget Indianness, forget Indian ethos, forget even the expression, “"You can take an Indian out of India but you can’t take India out of an Indian,” forget even the concept of a Hindu country…ask: will this nation even remain India? Aren’t we witnessing a threat to the very existence of India? In its wake, shouldn’t we ask, from whom does this threat arise? Who do we need to blame this on?

I’m sure all of you are aware of Mir Jaffar and Mir Sadiq. Mir Sadiq was a minister under Tipu Sultan. You equally know what Mir Sadiq did. He entered into a secret pact with the British and, under the pretext of collecting taxes, he diverted the troops under him, thereby enabling the British to win the Fourth Anglo-Mysore war. In plain language, Mir Sadiq was a betrayer. Let’s turn to the Battle of Plassey. This battle, which laid the foundation of the British Empire in India was the handiwork of Mir Jaffar, Siraj-ud-daullah’s trusted lieutenant. Another traitor-Muslim, who backstabbed his own Muslim king for the sake of a few pennies of British money. The Battle of Plassey effectively ended Muslim rule in India.

But then, who are the betrayers, who are the traitors in our midst, in our own time? Who are those who are pushing India to the brink of yet another Partition for the sake of a few votes?

Badruddin Ajmal, the man who is provoking violence in Assam, and Asaduddin Owaisi with his inflammatory, communal, and treasonous speeches in Parliament…who or what is the force that encourages and feeds such divisive and anti-national elements?

August 21, Azad Maidan, Mumbai:

Raj Thackeray, chief of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) held a massive and hugely successful rally at Azad Maidan protesting the Muslim vandalism that occurred at the same spot and in its vicinity, on August 11.  In his crowd-mesmerizing speech, Raj stringently criticized the Muslim mob that vandalized property, destroyed media vehicles, and attacked Mumbai police. In his speech, he expressed solidarity with the 50-odd policemen who were targets of this vandalism and sympathized with the plight of the policewomen who were molested by the Muslim mob. His speech also sent out a stern warning to these vandals. Police constable Pramod Tawde, who listened to this speech climbed up the dais after the speech, congratulated Raj Thackeray, and handed him a flower. This was his way of expressing gratitude to the man who spiritedly spoke in a manner that uplifted the morale of the police force. Pramod Tawde’s gesture broke all established police protocols.

Why did he do that?

Pramod Tawde was on security duty when the Muslim mob went on a rampage on August 11. He did his bit to restrain and control the mob at great risk to his life. But that’s not all. He apprehended two rioters. But thow did the then Mumbai Police Commissioner respond to this heroic act? “Don’t try to act smart because you look like Subash Chandra Bose!” But that’s still not all. Here’s what Commissioner Arup Patnaik told a Deputy Commissioner of Police who was trying his best to do riot-control: “bastard!” and then proceeded to order the release of a few rioters the poor DCP had caught. Instead of commending the DCP for the good job he did by apprehending the rioters, Arup Patnaik insulted his junior in gutter language. If Arup Patnaik isn’t a nation-betrayer, we don’t know what else we need to call him. If people like Arup Patnaik hold the reins of the Police force, what does it do to the morale of the entire force?

People like the Maharashtra Home Minister R R Patil and Commissioner Arup Patnaik who reported to him are worse than the divisive and treasonous leaders like Badruddin Ajmal and Owaisi. On the one hand there are people like the MP Rajeev Chandrashekhar who has announced a reward of Rs. 5 Lakhs to anyone who gives information about the traitors who desecrated the Amar Jawan Jyoti Memorial. On the other, we have Chief Ministers like Prithviraj Chauhan who order the release of Azad Maidan rioters who were arrested by the Mumbai police.

Tell me, who are the real traitors, who are the folks feeding anti-national feelings? Aren’t these practitioners of vote bank politics the Mir Jaffars and Mir Sadiqs of today?

And now, Asaduddin Owaisi!

On August 8th, when Owaisi thundered in Parliament over the Assam violence that "I warn the honourable Members over here… If proper rehabilitation does not take place, you be ready for a third wave of radicalisation among Muslim youth,” every Hindu Member of Parliament watched the treacherous spectacle with pursed lips. Doesn’t the Congress feel even an iota of shame to ride on the support of such a divisive man both in the Centre and in Andhra Pradesh? Isn’t the Congress aware of the sordid record of Owaisi’s party, All India Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM)? In 1947, this party was christened Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM). When the Nizam of Hyderabad refused to join the Indian Union, Sardar Patel sent the Indian army to make him see reason. MIM was the organization that mobilized the band of Razakkars tasked with the mission of fighting the Indian army. It’s a different story that the Nizam lost and Hyderabad became part of India. In its wake, the Government of India banned MIM. In 1957, in a bid to express its solidarity with India, MIM prefixed “All India” to its name. Maulana Abdul Wahid Owaisi, grandfather of Asaduddin Owaisi took over AIMIM and established a Muslim vote bank in Hyderabad. His son, Sultan Salauddin Owaisi took control of AIMIM after his father’s death. Blogger Piyush, at Thinker’s Pad  has a detailed saga of the Owaisi clan. Thus, with anti-nationalism as the roots, what else can one expect from the Owaisis? More importantly, what do we call the UPA, which, despite being fully aware of Owaisi’s treasonous tendencies, has still appointed him as a member of the Standing Committee on Defence?

When L.K. Advani characterized the UPA government as illegitimate, the entire might of the UPA forced him to retract his statement. Now, why did the BJP, which behaves as if it has exclusive rights to patriotism and nationalism not force a similar retraction from the UPA when Asaduddin Owaisi made his traitorous speech on the floor of the Parliament? How do we even begin to define the moral cowardice of our leaders?

This is what Mahatma Gandhi said several decades ago: “My own experience but confirms the opinion that the Musalman as a rule is a bully, and the Hindu as rule is a coward.” This holds truer today. Which begs the question: what’s the point in blaming Muslims for the cowardice of the Hindus? Who were/are responsible for the growth of people like Owaisi and Badruddin Ajmal? In the wake of the 2010 High Court judgement on Ram Janmabhoomi, Akbaruddin Owaisi—Asaduddin’s brother—in a provocative speech said this to a large gathering of Muslims: “where all did Ram’s mother Kaushalya go and give birth to Ram?” How would the Muslim community react to a speech by a Hindu leader who said similar things about figures Muslims revere? When Karunanidhi taunted, “which Engineering college did Rama study at?” in the context of the Rama Setu affair, Hindus muttered nary a protest. Forget that. When Wikileaks revealed the fact that Rahul Gandhi considers Hindu “fundamentalism” as the greatest threat India faces, Hindus remained undisturbed in their slumber.

When the saintly Mahatma Gandhi said “the world has no place for the weak,” when the glorious Greek and Roman civilizations perished, will India be any different? Especially when we continue this way, when we remain inert, is there any doubt that this nation will go to the dogs?

A Hindu is a Hindu only because he / she unequivocally and with full intellectual commitment rejects the notion of “only my God” of Semitic monotheists. Hence the Hindu is exhibiting uncompromising religious intolerance in not accepting such exclusive belief systems.

Let us take a look at the Hindu’s utter insensitivity.
Look at the way the Hindu indulges in outrageously mega celebrations of image worship – be it Mahamastakabhisheka, Amarnath Yatra or Puri Jagannath Rath. The Hindus do it day in and day out. Hindus worship the Sun, many hills and rivers, tress and even animals.
DOES THE HINDU REALIZE HOW HURTFUL THIS SPECTACLE OF GRAND IMAGE WORSHIP WOULD BE TO THOSE BELIEVERS WHO ARE FOR CENTURIES, OBLIGATED TO WIPE OUT THE “GROSS POLLUTION OF IDOLATRY” – AS THEY CALL IT.

Let us examine how communal the Hindu can get.
(1)The Hindu asserts that the Hindu civilizational tradition is unique and has a special role to play in the world. And that it is distinct from Semitic systems or materialistic communism.
(2)HINDU IS NOT IN ANY HURRY TO GIVE UP THIS IDENTITY.
(3)Look at the Kashmiri Pandits. If only they had not been stubbornly communal about their identity and had converted to Islam, they would not be suffering as refugees in their own ancient ancestral land.
THE PANDIT’S COMMUNAL MIND REFUSES TO FORGET MARTYRDOM OF GURU TEGH BAHADURJI.
Hindus have no escape but to pay the price for all the three attributes.
It goes to show that the Hindu have to get their act together, now!
IN ANOTHER WORD “Hindu cultural foundation,” RIGHT???
    Did we get the point?

    @Y,
You know number of genocides( an example of capitalism blended with racist so called religious theology or ideology) for land and resource hunger ,crusade (holy war) had been operated by so called KNIGHTS OF EUROPE in entire Europe ,Africa ,America,Australia, new Zealand etc.

You know number of genocides( another best example of capitalism perfectly blended with racist so called religious theology or ideology) for land and resource hunger Jihad (holy war) had been operated by so called JIHADI OF ARABIA in entire Europe Asia ,North Africa etc.
You know genocides(20 man made major famine)during British raj for land and resource hunger had been operated by so called civilized Europeans(JUST another best example of capitalism blended with racist so called religious theology or ideology) . .

You know, that naxalite movement( an example of communism perfectly blended capitalism with racist so called religious theology or ideology) in India based on maoist ideology (communism ) is actually related to evanglicalization (christinisation or surrogate westernization ) to acquire mineral rich area trying to break India into mutual hostile camps for resource greed of pro colonial western agents.
You also know that China(communist) expansionist policy( an example of communism blended with colonial racist capitalist ideology) is nothing but expansionist policy of Han tribes.

So,these modern ideologies(capitalism or communism) are perfectly blended with racist, religious theology or ideology with colonial interest are now operational in full swing.

One day, probably (WHO KNOWS???), more and more people will realize that capitalism or communism are merely tools to confused masses to relate themselves with these ideology with food ,employment ,better livelihood etc.that they are trying to imprison themselves these pro materialistic PRO RACIST ,GENOCIDAL ,GEO -POLITICAL ideology , instead of that ,(may be) moving ahead to accepting VAIDIC CONCEPT OF PRO SPIRITUAL DRHARMIC (NOT RELIGIOUS) CONCEPT BASED ON YOGA,MEDITATION,SELF REALIZATION, RESPECT TO NATURE ,RIVERS ,PLANTS ,ANIMALS ETC.

    @K.P.
All cults, religions, civilization, thought processes, culture, belief systems, world orders are small and big systems for governance of a society and its simplicity or complexity depends on the number of people in that society. We are living in a world with new religions of capitalism, communism and their various derivatives.
These new religions have already implemented international laws governing the use of Internet, Satellites, Airspace, Travel, Space, Armaments, Fossil fuels, environment and more!
These new world religions are already dominating our everyday life, with us wearing pants – shirts for clothes, satellites, mobiles, internet for instantaneous communications, Coca Cola, Pepsi for drinks, MacDonald’s, KFC for food, fast air conditioned cars, buses, trains, aircrafts for quick travel anywhere in the world, English as the major business language and more!
As all things in nature evolve, so have our cultures. Hinduism, Christianity, Islam were or are not independent of these evolutions. At best we can say that Hindus have become capitalist Hindus, Muslims have become capitalist Muslims and so on. As a country, India has a clear 80% Hindu majority, for what it is worth! For first time in the 8000-year-old history of Indian subcontinent, there is one single coherent pro capitalist Hindu governing body!
As a subcontinent India, hosted various civilizations and empires. Our sub continental history starts with Indus valley (or Saraswati valley as some argue), Vedic, Brahmanism, Dravidian, Buddhist, Hinduism, Muslim-Mughal and ends with British Raj + 560 defragmented princely states of varied cultures / reglious beliefs! Our historical records show that as a subcontinent, there was rarely one coherent, decisive, political culture, which controlled the entire subcontinent. Those that came nearest in their efforts to govern the largest portions were Maurayan empire (promoted Buddhism), Gupta empire (promoted pro Brahman Hinduism), Mughal empire (largely pro Islam) and British Raj (Promoted capitalism). Marathas, although powerful and dominant for a short period, were inherently defragmented within their ranks. Looking at our 8000-year history of the Indian sub continent, what we see are large periods of disunity and warfare between multitudes of diverse city-states, chiefdoms and tribes.
The concept of India as one country was probably formulated less 100 years back for the first time and came into being 65 years back with merging of uncountable potpourri of traditions, cultures and belief systems with nothing but a flag, a anthem and a language, which incidentally is even now, spoken by only 50 % of Indians.
We say Hindu civilization has lasted for 8000 years! By the same logic, all European, Americans, Australians, New Zealanders, Canadians, European South Americans, Egyptians, can say that they are also a 8000-year-old culture, by identifying their origins with Sumerian civilization. Yes, they imposed their cultures on others, but so did the Indians. From 5th to 15th Century AD, Southern kingdoms and their chartered trading companies, similar to the British East India company, established bases, colonized and brought in Hindu or Buddhist influence all over South East Asia – Burma, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Borneo, Cambodia, Vietnam, Japan and more! Tamil descendents of these colonists are still living in countries like Malayasia, Indonesia, Borneo.
In “Colonial and Cultural Expansion (of Ancient India)”, written by R. C. Majumdar, concluded with: “We may conclude with a broad survey of the Indian colonies in the Far East. For nearly fifteen hundred years, and down to a period when the Hindus had lost their independence in their own home (during the time of Buddhism), Hindu kings were ruling over Indo-China and the numerous islands of the Indian Archipelago, from Sumatra to New Guinea. Indian religion, Indian culture, Indian laws and Indian government molded the lives of the primitive races all over this wide region, and they imbibed a more elevated moral spirit and a higher intellectual taste through the religion, art, and literature of India. In short, the people were lifted to a higher plane of civilization.”
This sounds exactly like a 19th century European colonist saying that they were born to rule over the uncivilized primitive people (Indians?)
So, yes, Indians, just like Europeans and Muslims, did at one point or another in their vast defragmented history imposed their ‘world order’ on others outside of the Indian subcontinent.
One day, probably not in my lifetime, more and more people will realize that we are trying to imprison ourselves in our confused conflicted past, instead of learning from it and moving ahead to accepting the inevitable new world religions of capitalism or to some extent communism, until the essential idea of freedom and the systemic / religious expression evolves to something else!

Sometimes reading and participating in India-related blogs and fora on the Internet is like trying to empty a sinking vessel of water using a bucket. No matter how much of the stuff you scoop out, even more pours in. The water doesn’t have a mind or a purpose, it just sloshes about dumbly, putting the boat and its occupants in danger. A nature akin to that demonstrated by kooky characters like “Y”, people who have been so brainwashed by the warped world-view and falsified version of history peddled by the white man and made into the hardiest carpet stain of unholy convention, that one wonders whether such lost souls can ever be salvaged from their pitiful serfdom to that diabolical cause. Methinks not likely.

“Y”, you are on the wrong blog. You smack of an innocent child vociferously arguing the existence of the tooth fairy to bemused parents. I suggest you find a like-minded set of deluded fools with whom you can exchange splatterings of your diarrhoetic outbursts with full mutual appreciation.

Why Blame Others When Hindus Themselves are Cowards?

We should not blame anyone or we should blame everyone.

Who are these abrahmanic cult operators? Are we confident our ancestors were not one of them?
Our genocidal cyclic reality supposedly started 30,000 years back, from the time humans evolved into Homo sapiens and exterminated Neanderthals,
Regardless of any culture, religion or race, all our ancestors have been killers and victims.
Victims of today were also the oppressors of the past and could very well become oppressors of tomorrow! It is true that victors write history, but in today’s global reality, we all have open access to immense amount of information, essentially negating one-sided biased accounts.
Along with genocide of Native Americans, South Americans, Aborigines of Australia by the Europeans, history also tells us about Bantu’s aggressive and violent expansion in Africa, subduing, killing, exterminating other African tribes, the Aztec (indigenous Mexicans) methods of slavery and human sacrifice, the systematic destruction of Buddhist culture by the Hindu priestly caste of Brahmans 1000 years back, the various Muslim invasions of Indian subcontinent, our own shameful behavior during partition, Mumbai riots, Gujarat riots. The list is endless and all it tells us that nobody has a claim to sainthood.
Today’s right is tomorrow wrong, situations change, realities change!

The dominance of today power brokers, didn’t begin with the Roman empire of Constantine, it began with the first advent of Agriculture in the fertile crescent 13,000 years back, leading to densely populated cities supporting specialists, leading to rapid technological growth in travel systems, weaponry and centralized governance system, leading to Sumerian, Greek, Chinese, Indus and Roman civilizations. And by stroke of fortune of being in a right geographical location (east-west continental axis), Roman Empire seems to have influenced the present world domination.

Which cult or group, however small has not aspired to become empire builders! Have we forgotten the Chandragupta, Ashoka, Akbar, Shivaji and the massive Maratha empire?
Ashoka became Buddhist, promoted Buddhism, because just like Constantine with his Christianity, he saw the value of governance of a vast forcibly acquired empire, with one single homogenous religion. Are we confident that this transition from varied Vedic, Shaivik, Vaishnav and numerous other forgotten sects to Buddhism was peaceful? Mass conversions under allurements, duress or deceit would have been very common and within millennia, the same thing was repeated again with Sungas promoting Brahmanism, destroying 1000 years of Buddhist culture and bringing in inherently divisive and ultimately demeaning Hindu caste system.

Yes, organized religions have historically and even today cause mischief and so does any other system of governance and communal systems. China, Russia and don’t forget North Korea, just adopted another religion – communism and nothing changed, probably got worse. The mass disappearances and execution of Russians during Stalin’s rule is well documented and so is ongoing genocide in Tibet by China!

100 years back and beyond, understanding ourselves on a global level was not easily possible.
In today’s reality, with the immense amount of information on Internet, live exposures to the global events through television, gigantic strides in technology and science is showing us that that we are all same; we are not Christians, nor Muslims, nor Hindus, nor Buddhists, nor democrats, nor communists! We are just Humans species, who breathe oxygen, have red blood, have opposing thumbs, can walk upright, have capacity to learn and evolve, are aggressively violent and passively loving at the same time, with an inherent need for survival in any way possible, but ultimately die!

We are born into a culture, a group, and a society and are influenced by the beliefs, customs, and practices of the same. There was a time, when geographical, economical, technological barriers kept us isolated and at the mercy of the advanced, more aggressive civilizations!
To survive, I had no option, but to be a part of group, a culture, a society and hope for best!
In today global reality, I also have an option of being a global citizen, respecting everyone’s belief, traditions, cultures, my environment / earth, without being bound by any one particular cult, sect, belief system, culture and create my own identity, my own individual culture, my own ethos, live the life I want, be where i want to be. So, yes, in today’s global reality, I personally don’t need to be Hindu or a Muslim or a Christian; I am and can be, what I am!

Hindus never needed “God” from the time of the Vedas. The word “Deva” was unfortunately mistranslated by some as “God” and it is time to cast it out. Let Hindus stay with Brahman, Purusha, Prakriti, Prana, and their Devas and “Devis”. Let them not buy any God any more as they have been badly damaged by the Western and Middle Eastern concept of God that is still being widely sold to Hindus to their peril. Let the God salesmen leave Hindus alone, Hindus have no use for “him”.
“One Godism” is a political ploy to build empires for the two dominating religions of the world and control and use all the natural resources.
Building street corner Ganesha temples, popularly known as muchhandi Pillaiyar, is a thousands of years old Hindu tradition. Ordinary Hindus believe that these street-corner shrines or sthana devta watch over the people living close-by and we can see these roadside street-corner Ganesha (or other divinity) shrines across the country.
Chennai Corporation authorities who came in two imposing government SUVs (bought with ordinary Hindu taxpayers money) and the man sitting behind the wheels of the bulldozer (also bought with ordinary Hindu taxpayers’ money) were unmoved by the tears and anger of local residents and passers-by who had all worshipped at the shrine for over two decades. “Orders”, said one Authority with a smirk, while second Authority told sarcastically to go to the Court for redress.
On 1 September 2012, agitated neighbours rushed to the writer’s house with news that the Chennai Corporation demolition squad had bulldozed the 20-year old street-corner Ganesha temple and reduced the small shrine to a pile of rubble in less than five minutes; and this when Ganesh Chaturthi was just days away!

Yes you are right about that Abha but the question is are we going to give a better future to our generations by simply submitting to the cult of Islam?
As you know any reform in teachings of Islam is a conspiracy against god as per Kuran… so there is no way out but to feel helpless against making them change their Mindset…. or expecting it to happen would only be like expecting Elephants to fly by flapping their Large Ears.
P.S: They slam Islam khatre me hai….Indeed Its in great Danger PMPL

    Ranvir,
Your account is rather simplistic. The British and French supported the Ottomans during the Crimean war due to rivalry with Russia. The Russians had conquered most of the Ottoman empire and the Turks would have been finished. The British intervened because they were creditors of the Ottomans and wanted their debts paid.
Later in the ninteenth century All the Allies ignored the Armenian massacre….

FYI please read the book The conquest of Turkey and the fall of the Ottoman Empire by Linus Pierpont Brockett. It is free on kindle and the book was written before political correctness….

Well all I would like to ask all secularist and patriotic Hindus as well ” are you sure that you were taught the right, exact and unbiased History of India?”
Are you sure the Most Important part of the history was not left or denied to its citizen? Before you self proclaim yourself as a Secular and glorify the Islamic times of the country by saying great culture and arts flourished, islam brought in its unique style and architecture(as we have been taught) ever bothered to look beyond the veil? We have been not only denied Justice to our Past by pampering those idol haters, slayers and rapists of your ancesters We have also denied Justice to those great soul and people who stood against time and fought for justice, who stood to protect their ancestrol culture and faith and their bravery was second to none only to be denied a place in the History book or a very meek description about them.
Islamic Armies took the world by strom and within 70 yrs from its birth its conqest reachd spain but it took 500yrs(from 622Ad-1194Ad when prithviraj lost against Md. Ghori) for the same to obtain a foothold of the Indian mainland?
If you open the pages of Indian History You’ll find India Under British rule was far better than that under the Meelchas and there are far better personalities to be patronized and get Inspired by than to those who fought the freedom struggle by peaceful and compromising means.
Then one would argue that the Idea of India didn’t exist at the time before british and u are Propagating right wing ideology… Well I would Just like to say to them that there was always the idea to defend the spirit and the faith of the land and fight off the intruders And there were many instances when the Hindu kings joined hands to fight the common Enemy in Islam but then again there were some secularist dick heads who sometimes sided the Islamic Armies or didn’t see them as a threat till the armies of the scourge Butchered their asses out took their wife’s and daughters away and proclaimed themselves as Gazi.
If it is this History you are ashamed off or if you still think the past bloodshed has nothing to do with present day crisis then I must Congratulate them. It is not that the Hindus were Coward…. The Cowardice was filled in the people like you who were gifted with a biased logic and Judgment.
We are reminded about the incident when general Dier cold bloodedly Murdered some thousands of peaceful protestants but nowhere do we find a place in History where Timur The Lame put across the sword more than One Lakh of Non Combatant Hindus In a Single day and the cries of the women being raped all over the streets….for 1000years we were subjected to the worst and the biggest Genocide the world had ever seen but little does it reflect in our History Textbooks
I am not here to spit venom of the past but I am just here to say with deep regret that India failed to learn a lesson from the past….No average Indian knows anything beyond the glorified Sultanates, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the fight against British raj….
Muslims will never feel guilty of the past they will never accept the temples were broken and the womens Raped…
It is just a wait and watch game till they gain a bit of majority.
Muslims will rule again one day…. And the West will study us with the subject- Lessons not Learn or the example of a Failed Nation.

India Was Great, India is Great but I doubt India would Remain forever great in the hands of the people who dig its own Grave.

@Commoner, Gandhi was another politician of another time. No more and no less. He would have surely had differences with his fellow politicians like in any era and place. There is no need to attribute every wrong to him and there is no need to deify him and treat him as infallible.

Politicians of today who would be in his league include Karunanidhi, Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and A. Raja. Again, this comparison is given only to point out that Gandhi was a politician.

    @Prakash,

A lot of Hindus do consider Yoga and Ayurveda as legitimate and practice them. How else do you explain popularity of Yoga Guru Ramdev? I myself learnt the hard way that Yoga is an excellent alternative to being on medicines. Yoga and Ayurveda work as magic for all lifestyle diseases.

Yes, we are trying to fix our own backyard. We want Hindus to stop being selfish and to be concerned about fellow Hindus in Bodo land, Kashmir etc.

I would not have known about Pratap Simha if not for Sandeep’s translations of his articles. And I have to say he seems to be right up there with the best thinkers of current affairs in our country. Its just unfortunate that he writes in Kannada and so majority of the nation and even a lot of people in Karnataka do not know about him. I am sure our vernacular media is full of people like Mr.Simha, but because of our obsession with the English language, they escape notice.

    Thank you Mr.Simha.

By the way, was Mr.Simha the prime target of the Bangalore jihadis caught recently ? So, not just Narendra Modi, even his supporters are targets of jihadis now ?

@all who love to hate Gandhi
Bashing Gandhi has become a fashion ! Man who was trying to calm down communal violence when half of India was burning and half of India was jubilant and celebrating its Independence ! He despised partition , but has to bear the wrath of half baked intellectuals who think Gandhi was the root for all the problems !
What Gandhi preached and followed is held highly all over the world ! Taking up arms is never a solution for any problem. Jihad is not helping Islam’s cause its actually ruining it !
People who sit inside the air conditioned chambers and need some small rightist journalist to open their eyes on the many of the topics bash Gandhi !

a 10 year NDA rule could reverse it.. that is the time needed to educate 1 generation.. previous generations have been educated the way congress wanted. It totally distorted the perception and the identity one should have as an Indian if we see ourselves as a continuing civilization. I say the only thing that unites india is the perception of the people that it is their sacred land… from vaishno devi, amarnath to kanyakumari which comes from sanatan dharma. that is the source of our common culture which some secularists would call spirit of india.

    Uttarpara Speech

    30 May 1909

    by Sri Aurobindo

” I say that it is the Sanatan Dharma which for us is nationalism. This Hindu nation was born with the Sanatan Dharma, with it it moves and with it it grows. When the Sanatan Dharma declines, then the nation declines, and if the Sanatan Dharma were capable of perishing, with the Sanatan Dharma it would perish. “

Why all this furor over Hindus not being United !! I am sure 90% of the people who have commented here have married or will marry girl/boy from their own caste, sub-caste. Although it does help with cultural aspect many people have reservations towards it because of superiority complex. The concept of India has go beyond the language and caste . We are united only when it comes to cricket , and rest is just polarization by political ideologies .Why we have to be united just to save Hinduism ? what is our culture ? Rama is the only thing we can offer ? We proudly say we gave Ayurveda to the world but how many of are ready to consider it as a valid medicinal science ?
Why not fix our own backyard first and then think of neighbors ?

    Respected Mr Simha,

OF COURSE INDIA WILL GO TO THE DOGS. What you have written is the unfortunate truth – our patience, our tolerance knows no bounds, and that is the threat that is slowly turning out to be the noose around the combined Hindu neck. The only question is – will there be an awakening of the masses in time to act on this threat, or will we choke under the weight of our own tolerance and understanding?

Only time will tell. But if the past/present is any indication of the future, your forecast of India’s (as we know it) doom is certain.

“If not for Mir Jaffer and Mir Sadiq, there would be no India as it is today, no matter how broken. We would all be speaking Urdu and busy eliminating what’s left of a tiny Hindu majority. There would be no brain drain or flights of talent. There would be no Sunita Williams. Only beards and burkas”

Then you better learn some real history, let’s start with a Brit historian:

The idea, however, that the British have wrested the Empire from the Mohamadans is a mistake. The Mohamadans were beaten down — almost everywhere except in Bengal — before the British appeared upon the scene; Bengal they would not have been able to hold, and the name of the “Mahratta Ditch” of Calcutta shows how near even the British there were to extirpation by India’s new masters. Had the British not won the battles of Plassey and Buxar, the whole Empire would ere now have become the fighting ground of Sikhs, Rajputs, and Mahrattas and others. Except the Nizam of the Deccan there was not a vigorous Musalman ruler in India after the firman of Farokhsiar in 1716; the Nizam owed his power to the British after the battle of Kurdla in 1795, and it was chiefly British support that maintained the feeble shadow of the Moghul Empire, from the death of Alamgir II. to the retirement of Mr. Hastings. Not only Haidarabad but all the other existing Musalman principalities of modern India owe their existence, directly, or indirectly, to the British intervention.

    - The Fall of the Moghul Empire of Hindustan by HG Keene.

Far from saving Hindus, the British actually helped prop up Muslim powers and they have been doing it for a long time along with the French.

Anglo-French collaboration with Jihadists goes all the way back to the days Suleyman “the magnificent”. Later the same British-French propped up a crumbling Ottoman empire much longer than needed against Russia, they fought the Crimean war with the Ottomans against Russia which was trying to liberate Orthodox Christian lands from Ottoman Turkish rule.

In India the British covertly supported the jihad of Syed Ahmed Barelvi against the kingdom of Maharaja Ranjit Singh for example.

Teesta Setalvad has blessings of Congress and their chief Sonia Gandhi, Left and rich Bollywood personalities. See how Indian media underplays the startling revelation about her. Congress has enough money to keep such Teesta’s alive inorder to stay in power and loot the nations. 60 years of looting did not fill the elephants. The Neheru clan should be kicked out of this country and all the awards and foundations in their names should be revoked.

And just one word of caution to women who marries into muslim community,
you will indeed go to betray nation like teestas and barkhas inorder to save your marriage. So better think twice before going after hormonal drive.

What reason did the Patil and Patnaik give for their actions?

There is no doubt, all the folks mentioned in the article are class A cowards. But, not all Hindus are cowards. Right now we are headed by a clique of traitorous cowards. The problem with Hindus is that the aam Hindu ensures that there is no retribution for these traitors. If the Reza academy was not sure of the political patronage, they would not have dared to riot in day light for Pan Islamic causes.

These rioters/Islamists are cowards and show their might on unarmed men women and children. Owasis predecessors(Razakars) were the ultimate cowards. They specialized in terrorizing ordinary unarmed people but ran away firmly with tail between their legs when confronted with the Indian army. It is entirely different that the political did not make use of the complete victory of the IA and allowed the traitors, Nizam, Razakars(Owaisi) to stay back.

I think it is Prithviraj syndrome that is haunting Hindus again and again.

I find it strange that you have an article which seemingly is concerned about the unity and integrity of India, and yet you’re also postulating that Raj Thackeray is one of the good guys? I’m confused. I guess when it’s a Hindu-Muslim situation we can conveniently ignore the fact that Raj and his ilk have thrashed innocent non-Marathi Manoos on a consistent basis for no obvious reason (regardless of whether said non-Marathi Manoos was Hindu, Muslim or whatever), is that right?

Is it safe to say that only Hindus in India can defend freedom for all, or do we need intellectuals(read secularist) and the State to do it for us?

On the continuity of Hindu civilization, it has lasted for 8000 years(?), so is it fair to assume it would continue for at least another few centuries?

Dear Sandeep, timely article- but most of us won’t wake up even after reading this!

Btw, the 11 men with terror links including a scientist (DRDO!!) and a journalist arrested by Karnataka Police were allegedly planning to eliminate a columnist of a Kannada newspaper who “wrote pro-hindutva articles”. Are they referring to Pratap Simha? If he dares to write the truth and get it published, would he fear such a backlash? Go ahead Pratap, we are with you, and so are our prayers :)

And as usual, the Dhimmi Chronicle says this:

    http://www.deccanchronicle.com/channels/nation/south/bengaluru-police-bust-terror-%E2%80%98sleeper-cell%E2%80%99-11-held-505

“sleeper cell” in quotes? as if they do not want to believe in it! and see the level of projecting the apprehended as ‘victims’! The usual charades of “educated, employed, blah blah” & “family in shock” thing; why did they forget the family mourning pic?
