The Modi Juggernaut

Irony and decency die a million deaths each time Rahul Gandhi opens his mouth. Rahul indeed is the most powerful man in India today; consider this—ever since he took over as the Congress party’s Vice President, a single statement, any statement he makes has the power to crush the economy. India is a beehive. India is energy. India is a bouquet. Poverty is a state of mind. India doesn’t need infrastructure. An endless stream of demented thoughts when he doesn’t even have a ministry. Just imagine what’d occur if he actually becomes the Prime Minister and begins to implement these…errr…ideas (?).

On the contrary, just the inkling that there’s a Narendra Modi speech scheduled in some place is enough to galvanize millions of Indians. Indeed, as we’ve witnessed in the recent past, these millions of Indians have turned up in colossal numbers to his speeches, and those who haven’t been physically present, have tuned in to TV, mobile phones, iPads, and other devices after dumping whatever work they had just so they could listen to him. Speech after speech, rally after rally is a visual demonstration of how they hang on to his every word and how they never seem to get enough of him. It is certainly not an exaggeration to say that Modi is perhaps the only tallest, self-made leader since Independence. One could argue against this by dropping Mrs. Gandhi’s name but there’s a key difference: Mrs. Gandhi began with a 90% advantage. She was seen in the company of freedom fighters in her childhood apart from being Jawaharlal Nehru’s daughter. Narendra Modi had none of those advantages—he carved his destiny with his own hands rising from extremely humble beginnings. This is exactly what angers dynasty worshippers like Ramachandra Guha who despite professing an “egalitarian” ideology like Communism look down upon Modi contemptuously because he rose from humble origins.

Besides, what both the Congress party and its stooges of various hues don’t realize is the fact that Mrs. Gandhi lived in an India where a largely naive people looked up to politicians as maai-baap. That and the fact that the Congress ensured that this maai-baap mind set was perpetuated to perpetuity so it could remain in power forever. That generation is all but dead today and the post-70s generation—for good or bad—is impatient and has a low tolerance for stupidity. More so with politicians who claim superhuman powers for themselves like singlehandedly wiping out poverty. From an era when even newspaper editors would refer to politicians in reverential tones to an era of the Unreal Times, which mercilessly lampoons everybody including the all-powerful Sonia Gandhi. And gets away with it. But the Congress still harbours an illusion that what worked till the early/mid 1980s will also work today. The best evidence of this lies in the numerous clampdowns against free speech and the hounding of critics of the Congress party—a phenomenon that only accelerated since 2009. Needless, this is a classic case of a tyrant whose tyranny is explained by his/her insecurity. In the case of the Congress, its current insecurity is explained by the fact that it is stuck in a time warp. The pulse of modern India is this: it wants prosperity, personal wealth and a good standard of living (and life); and it wants these things without having to suck up to the Government. And as we see, from 2004 till now, the Congress-led UPA has done everything to choke this pulse and by implication, the nation.

So what explains the 21st century Congress being stuck in the 1970s time warp?

Let’s look at this from a different angle by casting a glimpse into the mindset of the Congress party. If there’s one thing that characterizes leaders in the Congress party—from the dynasty heads right down to state leaders—it is the fact that they’re singularly unapproachable. If they condescend to open their mouths at all, it will be to talk down to the people of India from a Prophetic pedestal which almost always has the I-know-what’s-best-you undertone. It is this haughty attitude that has insulated them from reality—every single downfall in Congress history has been preceded by this attitude taken to its extreme: the Emergency and now, the impending doom of the Sonia-led Congress.

There’s yet another key factor that’s been overlooked.

The last time the Congress party was in power was between 1991–1996. And that was under the stewardship of a non-dynasty Prime Minister, P.V. Narasimha Rao. And so we need to discount his tenure because it was so thoroughly unlike any other Congress Government until 1991. That effectively takes us back to 1989, which saw the Congress receive a severe drubbing at the polls. What this means is simply that the dynasty-led Congress was out of power for fifteen years, a timespan almost equivalent to one generation. In this interm, India had rapidly changed. On its part, the Congress, instead of attuning itself to these changes, was embroiled in internal feuds and the ugly spectacle of elevating Sonia Gandhi for no other reason than sheer survival. As we see now, the nation is now paying the price for that elevation. And so when it won in 2004–-not an absolute majority but nevertheless—it was set on a course of hurtling India back to the Stalinist ’70s because that’s what the Congress knows best. By September 2013, that process is nearly complete and will only worsen till the next elections are declared.

Look at the scenario today from whatever angle: there’s a yawning political vacuum. In fact, this vacuum has existed since 2009 but has now made its presence felt almost visibly, like a living being. And Narendra Modi has simply stepped in to fill that vacuum. From the Congress party’s perspective, he stands out like sore thumb: he is approachable, open to new ideas, mingles with all strata of society, doesn’t use discredited and dead theories, works tirelessly, demonstrates results, is not divisive—most importantly, he speaks in terms of the nation instead of targetting and splitting society on caste and religious lines. Now how does a party which has internalized the worst of the worst human tendencies for over six decades, even muster a semi-decent, semi-coherent response? This then is the real stumbling block for the Congress in its pathetic efforts to counter Modi; it is also why every such Modi-countering effort continues to boomerang upon it. This and the fact that the Congress has nurtured only servile minds and medicore talent starting with Nehru who initiated it. And so, today, we have some of the best minds firmly behind Modi because he has shown respect for talent and initiative. Apart from Modi’s decisive governance ability, his respect for talent is also a key contributor to Gujarat’s stellar development record.

And so we’re back at Rahul Gandhi’s beehive, bouquet, and state of mind. These aren’t even platitudes. They’re a brutal joke on the people of India made by a semi-literate scion of a rotten dynasty. And on the other side, we have a mere Chief Minister who’s already ready with concrete, actionable visions for the development of India. And he already has the solid backing of millions of Indians who want him as their next Prime Minister—this even when he hasn’t himself expressed a desire for the post.

There is nothing that the Congress can do to stem the march of Narendra Modi. It would rather be wise for it to gracefully step aside and allow the Modi Juggernaut to roll on unimpeded. If not for any other reason than the sole reason that Narendra Modi is infinitely more capable of actually making garibi hataao a reality and has demonstrated in Gujarat how Bharat Nirman is actually done.

These are all extremely valid points. If we lived in a world where logic and rationale would directly dictate electoral results then the Congress would never stand a chance to win any elections. Since we don’t, there are many factors that are counter-intuitive to common sense that become critical towards ‘winning’ elections. This is where tactics of minority-appeasing, brandishing the Gandhi name etc. work beautifully for the Congress. Furthermore, certain tactics by BJP (like Modi’s perceived aggressiveness towards minorities) have the tendency to become major deterrents for sections of the electorate as well as potential coalition partners. Here is an example – http://www.wahsarkar.com/2013/07/bjp-vs-congress-distribution-of-tickets-to-muslims/

Most people have, at some point in time, thought the Congress was secular. On paper, sure, the Congress might seem reasonable and in tune with the demands of the nation. In reality, these claims couldn’t be any further away from the truth. What is becoming increasingly evident is the incompetency, the pseudosecularism, the dirty politics, and a terrible attitude. Our country could be so much more than it is, and believe it or not, there is an untapped potential that waiting to be harnessed. Ask yourself – do you want second-rate people running your country? Can you stand by the sidelines and watch the country that you love, crumble under shoddy management? Sit down and evaluate the facts. The government you pick will make or break India. And the damage left is irreversible. We as Indians cannot grow to our fullest potential because we are struggling with the very basics. You cannot expect someone to run a government for a country of over a billion people if they don’t have a plan.

Food for thought – think of India as a company that needs to be managed. How would you manage it?

The Congress has played its cards very well for the past 15 years. Massive conversions to Christianity in small towns, villages and every slum in every city of India has assured it one of the biggest vote-banks ever. Their unrestrained support to foreign missionaries, looking the other way when religious-NGO money pours into the country, and elevation to high office of a disproportionately high number of Christians has gone unquestioned by a sold-out media, and an apathetic public. I will not be surprised if the Congress wins in 2014, thanks to its new vote bank. Urban, educated Indian Christians can hopefully understand the morass the country is in and vote according to their conscience.

A few things in favour of Modi-Sandeep you can add more.

    1) He is an Indian first. Always India first for him.
    2) Quick on the uptake.
    3) An efficient Politician / Bureaucrat/ Economist / General … all rolled into one.
    4) Simply does not belong to any cocktail circuit.
    5) Terrorists have no place to hide. No Blood and Biryani diplomacy.
    6) If you are innovative, you are the man for him.
    7) Respects the country’s armed / paramilitary forces.
    8) Likes India to stand up on her own legs, and not go around with a begging bowl.
    9) Great extempore orator and speaks to the point. Hopefully, one day he will speak at the UN in Hindi.
    10) Last but not the least, he does not steal nor does he allow others to steal.

    In addition……
He is a good administrator with proven record.
    He is workaholic.
No dynastic background. -One feel ashamed when Dr Manmohan Singh after working as PM for last 10 years says that he is looking forward to work under RG with one whom not having the experience of even administrating a village.Conduct of the rest of the intellectuals in Congress are also pathetic and an apology to proud Indians.
He is subjected to the worst form of crucifixion from the corrupt, immoral, biased and selfish media, NGOs and critics (big mouths on sale).
He is a bachelor therefore nation gets his 18 hours a day in service.
He keeps his family and relative at a distance from power.
He got a vision for the nation and knows how to implement it.
He is a common man who has experienced poor Indians problem.
He knows how to motivate the nation. -and doesn’t it need some.

    Dear Sandeep

Good Post, however, Its important to understand the root cause is with we the people of India , who developed following during the 15 years of non Dynasty Rule..

    1. Chalta Hai – I don’t need to vote as it does not matter.. (while actually many were voting in proxy for them !)
    2. Self Righteousness (that included tolerating and indulging corruption) –
Probably is the result of sudden wealth creation with rapid change of economic activity..
    3. #BalaPhobia – I use this to represent the habit of Equating the Un-equals in the name of Balancing Act..
Less and More is Not= Still they are equated due to #BalaPhobia..

Surely Modi Juggenaut is attacking all of these..
However, Journey is long… as India is too large diverse and complex..272+ is too is distant..
Do not underestimate the strength of adversary ..

    @Post-Godhra violence
FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY, Gandhinagar on 28 February. Violence spread to the largely rural districts of Panchmahals, Mehsana, Hansot, Kheda, Junagadh, Banaskantha, Patan, Anand and Narmada the next day. Over the next two days, Bharuch and Rajkot and later Surat were hit.
The first incidents of attacks on the Muslim community started at Ahmedabad, where Hindus began throwing stones at and later burned a Muslim housing complex known as Gulburg Society, and then spread elsewhere.

The initial violence was believed to be instigated by unsubstantiated rumours, endorsed by a senior VHP leader, of Muslims having kidnapped three Hindu girls during the Godhra train attack.
In Ahmedabad, the dargah of the Sufi saint-poet Wali Gujarati in Shahibaug and the 16th century Gumte Masjid mosque in Isanpur were destroyed. The Muhafiz Khan Masjid at Gheekanta was ransacked.

Police records list 298 dargahs, 205 mosques, 17 temples and three churches as damaged in the months of March and April.

According to Human Rights Watch Report, May 2002, State officials of Gujarat, India were directly involved in the killings of hundreds of Muslims since 27 February and then commenced engineering a massive cover-up of the state’s role in the violence.

“What happened in Gujarat was not a spontaneous uprising, it was a carefully orchestrated attack against Muslims,” said Smita Narula, senior South Asia researcher for Human Rights Watch and author of the report. “The attacks were planned in advance and organized with extensive participation of the police and state government officials

Oh! Why did you stop short of invoking that “God of small things” trying to tell us that a preganant woman’s belly was ripped apart by the rioters in vadodara and later apologizing when she was made to stare at her own habitual fictional creation? The whole case against modi has been built on foundation of lies that stand exposed today. When riots spread, unspeakable acts are committed. But this was the first time in India that riots were used by Congress and by the paid-media and fiction writers to settle political scores by directly pinning them on to a leader who had done nothing to deserve it. Has the media done even one percent in a riot which was actually the creation of the political bosses – the anti-sikh pogrom? Nothing. They just twiddled their thumbs.

Modi undertook a gaurav yatra in the days after the riots. Why was he proud of failing to control riots? Garbage like Modi will never be allowed to ruin our country.

It is really interesting and absorbing to get to know more about Modi and the Congress family which has ruined this country. It is a great story of a man who by dint of sheer energy and hard work has risen from the ranks, from back ward class to such great heights is amazing. It is a pity that such people don’t get the media attention the right way. The Mdia is so biased and it is of the Congress establishment. This must change. The time has arrived.

Extremely well articulated piece on the rise and rise of Modi. As you have so rightly put it, ‘Congress is existing in a time warp’, whereas Modi is moving with the times and therein lies the difference in their approach to governance. And the people of India are beginning to see this. Enjoyed reading the piece…

Well, Sonia Maino is the 4th richest politician in the world, with a known wealth of 2 humble billion dollars (one billion = one thousand million dollars), and her son-in-law whose family used to deal in scrap is worth the same. Pappu and his sister’s wealth is unknown, as is those of the sycophants of this dynasty, but it’s clear that they are not in the boot licking business for patriotism.

    @malavikapatil
GANDHI WAS THE MAIN VILLAIN WHO WAS AGAINST HINDU MUSLIM UNITY.

ABOUT HINDU -MUSLIM UNITY…… IT HAD BEEN OBSERVED TWO TIMES IN INDIAN HISTORY

FOR THE FIRST TIME IT HAD OBSERVED IN SEPOY MUTINY 1857′
AND IN SECOND TIME IT HAD OBSERVED IN ROYAL INDIAN NAVY MUTINY 18 FEBRUARY 1946(The Royal Indian Navy mutiny on 18 February 1946 found support throughout British India, from Karachi to Calcutta and ultimately came to involve 78 ships, 20 shore establishments and 20,000 sailors).
WHICH IS NEITHER SUPPORTED BY CONGRESS NOR MUSLIM LEAGUE.

SO,GANDHI WAS THE MAIN VILLAIN WHO WAS AGAINST HINDU MUSLIM UNITY.

GANDHI (WITH CONGRESS) AND HIS COLLABORATIONIST MUSLIM LEAGUE PREDICTED AND REALIZED THAT IF THE HINDU MUSLIM UNITY HAD BEEN ESTABLISHED IT IS POSSIBLE THE LIKELIHOOD OF THEIR DESTABILIZED AUTHORITY AS AND WHEN POWER WAS TRANSFERED.

Neither Gandhi nor Muslim league (sabko apni-apni pari thi -everbody had their own dream – but the common objective -the partition)

Gandhi, in fact criticized the local Indian National Congress leader Aruna Asaf Ali, who was one of the few prominent political leaders of the time to offer her support for the mutineers, stating she would rather unite Hindus and Muslims on the barricades than on the constitutional front.

GANDHI WAS THE MAIN VILLAIN WHO WAS AGAINST HINDU MUSLIM UNITY

GANDHI’S CRITICISM ALSO BELIES THE SUBMISSION TO THE LOOMING REALITY OF PARTITION OF INDIA, HAVING STATED::

”IF THE UNION AT THE BARRICADE IS HONEST THEN THERE MUST BE UNION ALSO AT THE CONSTITUTIONAL FRONT.”

OBVIOUSLY GANDHI’S (AND THE CONGRESS’S) CONCLUDED THAT THE RAPID EMERGENCE OF MILLITANT MASS DEMONSTRATION IN SUPPORT OF THE SAILORS WOULD ERODE CENTRAL POLITICAL AUTHORITY OF CONGRESS AND MUSLIM LEAGUE, IF AND WHEN TRANSFER OF POWER OCCURRED.
    .
SO,DEFINITELY,,GANDHI WAS THE MAIN VILLAIN WHO WAS AGAINST HINDU MUSLIM UNITY.

  22. September 12, 2013 at 10:58 PM

Virtue is more to be feared than vice, because its excesses are not subject to the regulation of conscience.
Ahimsa (non violence) for whom? For hindu community ,according to Gandhi they should follow non violence measures for British invaders and violent follower of other faith (because they are brothers) not for enemy of Jews.

Strangely, Gandhi never recommended non-violence to Muslims or the Brits, but only to the Hindus. The more I read his philosophy, the more I find what an idiot and a pretender he was. A shame on Hindus of that time who couldn’t see through his game of faking wisdom.

Your point about expectations was hinted at during the CNN IBN election tracker a couple of months ago. And if the polls that have taken by the media houses are to be believed, they validate what you are saying about the mood of the country.

The next issue is how do you take the crowds and translate it into votes at the polls especially in the states where BJP doesn’t have a presence. Those regional parties need too jump on the train and become allies.

THERE IS AN AIR OF OPTIMISM.
There is also an interesting thing about elections in UP. Whichever constituencies have under 15% Muslim population, in general BJP does not perform good in these. Whichever ones have 15% – 25%, BJP performs better. But wherever Muslims are between 25% – 40%, BJP performs excellent. Watch the last disastrous Vidhan Sabha elections, BJP won in Firozabad, in Meerut, in Agra, etc, all heavily dominated by Muslims. Last Lok Sabha they also won in Azamgarh, the home of so many terrorists.
SO ,YOU COULD UNDERSTAND HINDU AND MODERATE MUSLIM HAS COMMON ENEMY I.E.FUNDAMENTALIST MUSLIM.SO CHINA NOT PERMITTED YOUNGER GENERATION MUSLIM IN MOSQUE ,SO THEY HAVE SOLVED FRIDAY PROBLEM ,WHEN” ORDER OF THE DAY-DIRECT ACTION” ISSUED BY MULLAS.

AND ALSO Gujarat chief minister NarendraModi will soon get a Rakhi sent by Muslim sisters from Varanasi. They themselves prepared the big-sized Rakhi for their Gujarati brother wishing him to lead the nation.

Marking the holy month of Ramzan, a group of local Muslim women prayed for the well-being of Modi at a brief programme held in Lallapura locality on Sunday afternoon. The burqa-clad women associated with Muslim Mahila Foundation (MMF) hailed Modi, describing him as a charismatic leader.

      WHY???

WHY DID THEY FELT SO UNSECURED THEMSELVES???
AND THE ANSWER IS….YOU CAN GUESS ….THE COMMON ENEMY OF MODERATE MUSLIM AND HINDUS.

MUSLIMS MALES has been committed CRIME AGAINST HINDU FEMALE teachers, student & devotees i.e.YOUNG HINDU FEMALE teacher sexually assaulted (Dec 29, 2012), acid attack on three YOUNG HINDU FEMALE teachers (Apr 3, 2013), class IX YOUNG HINDU FEMALE student raped by youth (Aug 24, 2013)HINDU,FEMALE devotees molested near a place of worship(Aug 29, 2013) in MUJAFFARNAGAR.

It means MUSLIMS MALES are against girl education AND their religious rights
So,MUSLIMS MALES are against freedom of ,MUSLIM FEMALES,their empowerment and thus against their better economic condition and freedom from MALE’s slavery and also religious rights, in case of HINDU FEMALE devotee(MUSLIM FEMALES are not allowed in Mosque ,because MUSLIMS MALES have such poor self control between their legs when FEMALES enter mosques. This religion is all about sex, and they have such poor concentration that with the entry of FEMALES Allah becames secondary)

BECAUSE MUSLIMS MALE’S RELIGION IS VERY MUCH MALE DOMINATED,THEY FEAR INFLUENCES CONVEYED FROM HINDU FEMALES TO MUSLIM NEIGHBORHOOD FEMALES ,IT MIGHT CAUSE AIR OF FREEDOM COULD BLOW AND THEY FELT THEIR MALE DOMINATED SOCIETY WOULD BE IN DANGER WHICH IS THE VERY ESSENTIAL FEATURE FOR MUSLIMS.

AND ALSO the point is that whenever BJP speaks about Hindus, Hindus and Hindus, they get good outcome. Whenever they speak of Thakur, Brahmin, Lodh, etc.. they get ‘egg in the face’ because if you have to be casteist, why not vote for Congress, SP or BSP whose staple diet consists of casteism?

Another important advantage Indira G had and her children have is the Gandhi last name. In semi feudal, mostly illiterate 60′s and 70′s ‘Gandhi’ has immediate brand recognition. Even now rural people think Sonia is Gandhi’s daughter. Not recognizing this was the crucial mistake made by her opponents in the Congress party before she split the Congress.

Congress is venal, corrupt, incompetent and traitorous. But it is supremely efficient in staying in power, by hook or crook. So, it is incumbent on the citizens to canvass against Congress and ensure that it discredited and defeated in the polls.

Yes Modi is huge, powerful, and very strong force to discredit and defeat this venal, corrupt, incompetent and traitorous force which is semi feudal, mostly illiterate, unfortunately got immediate brand recognition and so this rotten dynasty is severe burden for people of India.
Apart from that, according to their mindset ,the recognition of INDIA is just “Jewel in the crown “of British Raj not BHARAT named after King Bharata should be remembered for his great courage, strength and wisdom.
So,we need this BHARAT through Bharat Nirman.

The Nehru-Gandhi dynasty starts with the Mughal man named Ghiyasuddin Ghazi. He was the City Kotwal i.e. police officer of Delhi prior to the uprising of 1857, under the Mughal rule. After capturing Delhi in 1857, in the year of the mutiny, the British were slaughtering all Mughals everywhere. The British made a thorough search and killed every Mughal so that there were no future claimant to the throne of Delhi. The Hindus on the other hand were not targeted by the British unless isolated Hindus were found to be siding with the Mughals, due to past associations. Therefore, it became customary for many Mohammedans to adopt Hindu names. So, the man Ghiyasuddin Ghazi (the word means kafir-killer) adopted a Hindu name Gangadhar Nehru and thus saved his life by the subterfuge. Ghiyasuddin Ghazi apparently used to reside on the bank of a canal (or Nehr) near the Red Fort. Thus, he adopted the name ‘Nehru’ as the family name. Through out the world, we do not find any descendant other than that of Gangadhar, having the surname Nehru. The 13th volume ofthe “Encyclopedia of Indian War of Independence” (ISBN:81-261-3745-9) by M.K. Singh states it elaborately. The Government of India have been hiding this fact. – See more at: http://www.indiaagainstcorruption.info/2011/05/some-hidden-facts-about-the-nehru-gandhi-dynasty/#sthash.rtgoVyAp.dpuf

GANDHI SHOULD NOT BE CREDITED FOR FREEDOM OF INDIA.

The Royal Indian Navy mutiny (also called the Royal Indian Revolt or Bombay Mutiny) encompasses a total strike and subsequent revolt by Indian sailors of the Royal Indian Navy on board ship and shore establishments at Bombay (Mumbai) harbour on 18 February 1946. From the initial flashpoint in Bombay, the revolt spread and found support throughout British India, from Karachi to Calcutta and ultimately came to involve 78 ships, 20 shore establishments and 20,000 sailors.

The strike found immense support among the Indian population, already gripped by the stories of the Indian National Army(Ajad Hind fauj of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose). Naval officers and men began calling themselves the “Indian National Navy” and offered LEFT-HANDED SALUTES to British officers. despite assurances of the good services of the Congress and the Muslim League widespread arrests were made. These were followed up by courts martial and large scale dismissals from the service. None of those dismissed were reinstated into either the Indian or Pakistani navies after independence. The strike soon spread to other parts of India. The ratings in Calcutta, Madras, Karachi and Vizag also went on strike with the slogans “Strike for Bombay”, “Release 11,000 INA prisoners” and “Jai Hind”.

On 19 February, the Tricolour was hoisted by the ratings on most of the ships and establishments.
The weekly intelligence summary issued on the 25th of March, 1946 admitted that the INDIAN ARMY, NAVY AND AIR FORCE UNITS WERE NO LONGER TRUSTWORTHY, and, for the army, “only day to day estimates of steadiness could be made”.
The situation has been thus been deemed the “POINT OF NO RETURN.”

SO,FOR THIS WE CAN GIVE CREDIT TO NETAJI SUBHASH CHANDRA BOSE (EXPELLED OR RESIGNED FROM CONGRESS PARTY) AND HIS AJAD HIND FAUJ.
