I must confess I was overwhelmed by the response to my loathsome listing…err..list of India’s ten most loathsome people. That was an on-the-spur post…the ten most loathsome Indians I could think of at that moment. I intended to take a loathsome representative from different fields, mostly from politics, media, literature and films. I agree that list is hugely incomplete and heavily unrepresentative of the all-pervasive loathsomeness in the nation.
This section has taken birth as a result of the suggestions–even friendly indignation–from more enlightened commenters on the original post. Upon deeper introspection of comments, I have decided not to set a number on the loathsome-worthies. Like water, this list shall always remain fluid.
I’ve assigned a Most Loathsome Quotient (MoLoQ) to each person. The higher the MoLoQ, the better chance the person stands to reach the MoLo top slot. This list shall be periodically revised (further enlarged if required) if the MoLoQ of a worthy dips. Again, there’s an annual award for the MoLo of the year based on your votes. The voting lines are not yet open.
